Tropical Skyrim

Hello,

 

I would like to ask if someone is kind enough to convert Tropical Skyrim (Oldrim) to SSE, it require the Creation Kit, which is unavailable for GOG users otherwise i would have done it myself

 

Some instructions from a post :

It's unfortunate the author doesn't convert it to SE (or let someone), it's relatively easy. Open plugin in Creation Kit and save, which converts it from Form 43 to 44 (SE). Upload the Form 43 esp here, i can convert it to Form 44. The other files, you can convert yourself following those instructions.

Tropical Skyrim is a very good mod from 2013 that have some performance issues that was corrected in Tropical Skyrim Optimised.

That version was ported to SE in Tropical Skyrim Optimised SE.

 

But if you really want play the original in SE, thing not recomended, is one of the mods that require a conversion of the ESP because have water records.

The water records was changed in SE and any ESP with water records must be converted and adapted ussing the CK.

Well, i dont have the choice if you read closely the author say this : Unfortunately no. The original mod will have to be converted to work with SSE. I have it working but it's my personal conversion copy as I do not have permissions to convert the original Tropical Skyrim for SSE yet.

 

He provide the "fix" but not the converted main file.

It's really sad that GOG isn't planning to bring CK for us.

Just a side comment from me. I've been running Tropical Skyrim on my Legenday game for 5 years now. Unless you are running a completely old and useless laptop, there is no reason to use Tropical Skyrim Optimised, unless you want the lesser tree option. But it's a matter of taste. I like the dense jungle from the original Tropical Skyrim.

 

Instead you could consider overwrite Soolies Tropical Skyrim with "Tropical Skyrim enhanced" since it brings better lods and better textures.

I choosed LOD option 3 here and it works well. I run a PC with gtx 1080 and i7-4790 cpu. It's not a good PC these days, but its still totally overkill for my modded Tropical Skyrim.

 

And if the OP is not aware of it, the most annoying thing about Tropical Skyrim are these ones:

- Tree standing a bit up from the ground due to 3d model differences (between mod and vanilla). Not a big thing really. A huge job to fix since you must edit locationally in CK world view. That is close to impossible I'd say.

- Tropical Skyrim replaces many vanilla creatures. Easy to fix yourself unless you like the Tropical skyrim replacements. Your wolves will be raptors forexample.

- Replacing small plants with very much larger tree models. This is the major deal breaker. A bunch of small vanilla heathers now has been replaced with a palm trees to make the jungle look denser. These models unfortunately, is used both indoors and outdoors.  Therefore you will now have palm trees and such inside caves etc.

 

That said, I'm very happy with the Tropical Skyrim since it brings a meaning with all the bikini mods. I have removed enemie dots and compass from the UI. I often find myself lost in the woods and have to bring up the map to see which direction I'm heading. Wandering at night in the forest is now dangerous since you can't really see anything.
