RyuUchiha Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Hey, I'm having the issue that nothing I face has text preview. No NPC names, no item names or informations, nothing. You can see in the screenshot I am facing the chest and I can open it, but it won't say "chest". And thats for EVERYTHING in the game. Spoiler My modlist: https://pastebin.com/Nf0Pgj34
traison Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 I assume you've done the obvious and made sure this is not a feature of your fancy ui mod?
RyuUchiha Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 Yes, I've disabled it to double check.
traison Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 It? You have 2 hud mods by name, potentially more that are not named "hud". If that does not fix it, inspect your Interface directory and find all swf files. While all are unlikely to be involved, that's your list of candidates. Otherwise go through the SKSE folder and consider all dll files, whether they could be related or not.
RyuUchiha Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 I recall now that I had an issue with SkyUI a few days ago It said there was some issue with it, and that I should reinstall it. Once I did that, the UI problem appeared. I recall that now because I had also downloaded the most recent version of SkyUI and I tried rolling back to the older version. But none of that helped. I am currently still working on your suggested solutions, but so far nothing helped.
traison Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 (edited) No point chasing swf or dll files then, the issue is in SkyUI, no? Edit: I guess I should be more specific. If you're using MO2, simply extract the bsa file in SkyUI and look for ALL conflicts on SkyUI's swf files. BSA files lose to all loose files, so even the files that mo2 tells you are overwritten by SkyUI (when inspecting it without the bsa) will be potential issues once you remove the loose files and return to the bsa. Or I suppose you could just get rid of the bsa and keep the loose files, that never hurt anyone as far as I know. Edited October 17, 2022 by traison
RyuUchiha Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 Removing the BSA didn't work, I was able to load into my game once with a blackscreen, and now I have a ctd on loading my game since I did that. Adding the BSA fixed the black screen/CTD immediately. So we're back at the beginning right now.
traison Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Did you analyze the contents of the BSA to find potential conflicts?
RyuUchiha Posted November 12, 2022 Author Posted November 12, 2022 Sorry for the late answer - I didn't as I have no idea how to do that. I did extract all the swf files but I don't know how to continue from there on. I also found that the "Show Quest on Map" button doesn't exist anymore, and no quest markers are showing up on the map as well. Just saw that when opening the game again.
Fotogen Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 I had that problem not so long ago. I was getting CTDs, so I disabled lots of mods, to find out which one "did it". It happens if you disable a mod that does somehing with GUI, but not remove/unistall mods files from data\Interface folder. I may case it was SkyHUD or UIExtensions or SkyUI. I don't know which one removed names and stuff. So I'd say you where installing/enable/disabling/removing mods, but something got stuck in data\Interface older. SKSE is also working, right? 1
RyuUchiha Posted November 13, 2022 Author Posted November 13, 2022 Yea it is. Do you suggest completely uninstalling SkyUi and stuff and then reinstall it?
Fotogen Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Its always a good idea to make a backup. Backup is just "copy files somewhere else for you change stuff". Is there a file named hudmenu.swf in data\Interface folder? If so, what happens if you delete it(but make a backup first). Or just rename it. So its like hudmenu.swf.old. If it helps, good, if not, then I have no more ideas.
RyuUchiha Posted November 14, 2022 Author Posted November 14, 2022 i actually don't have that file. it doesnt exist anywhere in my special edition folder
