Hi! We are STANDING WAVE STUDIO and we are developing an adult RPG "The Way".

 

 

 

"The Way" is real-time action exploration RPG with physics based interactions and adult elements. It can be played from first or third person perspective.

It features comprehensive character creator with many shaping options, different skin, eye and hair colors and animation blending option.

"The Way" is not an idle game. It can be punishing and requires careful consideration of every step. All damage your character takes is physics based.

Alpha1.00 version is as the name suggests unfinished and features temporary health replenishing system that will be changed in future updates.

It allows you to sit down and rest anywhere to replenish your health. This feature will be used for other things in future versions.

"The Way" features nudity and sex but they are not the main focus of the game. The main focus is exploration, story and (in future) deep meaningful interaction

with other characters. It is designed to provide as realistic as possible feel of the world and interaction both with it's control system and graphics

as well as with it's character interaction system.

This alpha1.00 version is a prologue of the game. It is at the moment missing many key systems that fill be central to our entire game.

Also some of the systems already implemented are still WIP so there are some bugs and glitches but we think that

despite that this version can still demonstrate our vision.

We decided to publish at this stage because the small size of our team and budget is making development process slow without additional funding.

 

At this stage there are still no human NPC's but your character can still have some fun on his/her own.

Thank you.

 

The prologue of our game is playable now. About 2 square km's to explore with hidden secrets and full character creator. Demo should take you few hours or more and freedom of movement and character creator gives it replayability.

Been playing for a couple of days now. Your game looks amazing and it's fun to explore and play around, especially the beach.

 

Can't wait to see where you take it with future updates.

don't take this wrong way, I can always be wrong, but erhm....

this isnt the first time, nor will it be the last, where some one makes a rudimentary demo with high quality eye candy and little else, and just start milking patrons with pointless updates for years.

 

If I'm wrong, sorry in advance and hope your project goes well, Im just assuming this is yet another of the 99% of 3d game projects that asks for money before having anything to "sell"

and If I am wrong, I would recommend you having a demo with something tangible (videos are nothing really, demo the game itself not videos of it) and not behind a paywall if you are indeed intending to deliver a finished product.

Sometimes i think that a very ,,talented" person could have few of such projects going on, at the same time, putting in as little effort as possible yet milking it out all the way.

 

I don't say that the author is one of those, - if i were to make such game, would go same path, or... Would wait until i got a very presentable alpha at least. Even better, early beta or smthn.

Hi.

 

We do have an presentable and replayable alpha and have been working for a couple of years on this until now. This is not a quick cash grab.

 

We have been playing many other adult games on patreon so we do understand how jaded players are. We know how many projects have been started in last few years and how fast they are moving on or not. That's why we were working on this project in private until now on our own money. Our goal is not to milk anyone but to be able to work on this full-time.

 

We will release a free demo in a couple of months when we can afford it so you can try the game without supporting our project.

Until then you will be able to follow our development process here and make sure that our development is moving fast enough.

I'm always interested in more full and proper 3D games that also have full and proper adult/sexual content, and your trailer looks very nice.

 

I nuked my Patreon ages ago, but if you ever take your game to Steam Early Access I'll very seriously consider backing you there. I'm very choosy about what I back in EA, but I like the idea of a real game plus sexy times so much that I tend to back those sorts of things almost just to make the point (and in the hope that it'll get more such games made).

 

Godspeed, and I'll be keeping an eye this topic! :)

Hi.

 

Our first update is ready.

We updated the foliage with a far better shader so now it looks much better, interacts with the wind much better and also interacts with characters.

This apart from being massive visual improvement also paves the way for our plants interaction system.

We also redesigned some parts of the map using new foliage system and added many more plants across the map.

 

This update also brings our first extension to the sex system. It adds an option to masturbate while standing for both sexes and changes masturbate

button from left-click to M for both standing and laying masturbation stance.

 

Apart from that we squashed some bugs and made big progress on the next part of the map and inventory system which is not finished yet in this update.

Our hair system is also almost ready but still needs a bit more work and testing so it will come in our next update.

It's a bit of a catch-22. As was previously mentioned, I think people have been burned enough times on great looking tech demos that never become actual games.

That sounds great, but if you can't deliver any of that without a lot of funding, you might be at an impasse with people like me. That's the kind of thing I'd like to see (story, character interaction, etc.) before I'd be willing to invest, I've seen plenty of sexy 3D tech demos with decent looking character models and environments.

 

I've not really seen anyone show that they've put a lot of thought and effort into story writing, character development, and world-building. That's a way you could try to distinguish yourself from the rest of the pack.

I'm not going to spoil the story which is in the world building at the moment. This is no tech demo and the first part is in the game already.

 

As said above if you think that this is just a tech demo and I must give it for free for you to try before supporting you will have to wait for I will post a free demo when

I can. Until then please try to refrain from posting here that you will not support until you get it for free, that will not make it faster. Jaded comments without trying the game only hurt the project.

 

As said I was disappointed myself after trying many other early access games with the emptiness of them and had that in mind all these years we have worked on this project. We have put almost 3 years in this before even showing it online and we think that that is evident when you see our trailers. There is few hours worth of exploring and more if you want to find everything there is of the visual story telling. Nudity, sex and exploration are already delivered, interaction with other characters will be added. If that is not enough for you to support us I respect that but please don't try to convince others that this is just a tech demo.

That wasn't really my point. My point was that if story is a selling point of the game, that would be a good thing for you to expand upon. If you're going to say that the story is really good but you can't really say anything about it, because that would spoil it, I'm going to be a little skeptical.

 

Lots of people think they can write a good story. Most of them can't. You and your team may be doing a great job, but I don't really have any way to know.

 

So what I'm saying is that if you had some way to tease a little more about your world and the story you're going to tell without revealing anything that would ruin it, I think that would help your pitch.

I'm sorry but I never said the story is the main selling point. Exploration and adventure is. Story in this prologue is a backdrop for the exploration.

 

The player character finds him/herself in a strange place without any idea how he/she got there or why and needs to find out where he/she is and how to get home.

Exploration is designed to be realistic. You should think like in real life how to navigate(follow the river, go downhill...). Also moving about is not just pointing in the right direction and holding W. The terrain is jagged and like a maze. You must consider every step for everything is wet and slippery and it's very easy to hurt yourself if you rush it.

 

As for the story in the prologue there is only visual story telling elements scattered across the map apart from the start of the game and the end of prologue.

The story is about spirituality and technology, how they mix and how they don't. But it will be properly started in the next part of the map that should be released in the next couple of updates.

Hi. Sorry for late replay.

 

Our next update took more time than anticipated for some technical difficulties.

We already fixed the issue but the build will be ready in a couple of days with proper trailer for we have to rebuild part of the items. 

 

Anyway this update brings our strand based hair system. New hair system introduces more options for hair, eyebrows, beards and pubes in the character creator.

All of them are fully 3d and hair reacts to physics and collision. Hair ranges from short to chest length and comes with new hair color.

 

This is our first version of this system and will be built on with growing hair, body hair, more variants for everything and in-game items for grooming and shaving. 

 

Apart from that this update also brings fixes to character materials, new character presets and squashes some bugs. 

Progress on the next part of the map is going as planned and it will be in alpha1.03.

Hi.

Our alpha 1.02 build is finally ready.


This update brings the first version of our strand based hair system.
It gives you choice of 5 hair styles (length), 3 eyebrow styles and 3 pubic hair styles for both male and female characters. Male characters also gets 6 different beard styles + shaved option.
All hair is fully 3d and longer hair comes with physics and collision.
This update also changes hair materials and adds red hair color.

 
This is the first version of this system and will be upgraded in future updates. We had some physics issues and there could still be some bugs, especially with the longest hair style. We are still working on ironing out all the bugs.
This version covers natural hair( we will add a few more natural hair styles in future ), styled hair will come with in-game items for grooming and shaving in future updates.


Apart from that this update brings improvements to character meshes and morphs and fixes some visible seams.
This hair system can make the game run a little slower on weaker PC's. The hair by itself isn't that heavy but physics on the longer hair styles can be an issue for slower GPU's so if you notice lower fps than in earlier builds please use the first(shortest) hair style for that one doesn't use physics.
Progress on the next part of the map is going as planned and will be part of our next update.

Hi.

Our next alpha build is finally ready!

 

We are sorry for the massive delay but we still have to self finance this project which leaves little time for actual development. This version will also mark our free steam demo launch next month which hopefully can help finance the project allowing us to work only on this and thus prevent such long gaps between builds. 

 

This version adds a new part of the map effectively doubling the size.

 

Apart from doubling the map this version also: 

-adds a weapon with the first version of our item handling system

-adds new monologue subtitle system with various world comments  

-adds start of our item physics interaction system

-adds new physics based puzzle

-adds a new type of enemy

-adds character underwater reaction(no breathing, face)

-adds many new objects with new effects

-updates our camera collision system

-fixes many bugs and updates many already implemented systems

I downloaded from Steam, but I'm not really able to play the game, I just wanted to try it. I've got a I7 6700k at 4ghz with 16gb of RAM and a Geforce GTX 970. It's just not playable on my rig I'm afraid, though I tried with everything set to low or off and as little hair as your character choices allow.

 

Not being able to skip the opening scene quickly became irritating. What little I was patient enough to stutter-through seemed linear and the protagonist got hurt just by jumping a gap. I actually died when I slipped and bumped a branch. I didn't fall, just bumped the branch.

 

I've no doubt the visuals would be awesome on the right system, unfortunately mine isn't one of them. I hope this bump inspires others to try the game. I wish you well in your endeavor.
