Item slots issue

Hi, 

So I am using armor mods like Venus Cage and lower body item gets unequipped when I equip the upper body and the other way around. I have checked the item slots in the SSEEdit and they do not use the same slots (it's 32 for the upper and 52 for the lower). Do you guys have any idea what causes that and how do I fix it?

Unequipped, or just invisible?

 

Unequipped they both have the body tag and fight over it.

Invisible, but the effects are still there (look at your armor rating) - 99% of the time it's down to the Devious Devices device hider doing what it is supposed to with something it isn't supposed to. Just disable the hider.

I used the BodySlots mod and even in the game they have different slots but for some reason when i equip an item from slot 32, the slot 52 gets uneqipped.

I'm not sure. Never heard of the body slots mod, so I've no idea what changes it does. Hopefully someone who knows more can help out.

it just shows what slot the specific item takes so no changes to the armor itself

There's 3 things that specify which slots a piece of clothing uses. The ARMA record, the ARMO record and the nif itself.

 

I'm confident you'll be able to find the first 2, but the 3rd may be new so:

1. NifSkope
2. BSTriShape
3. BSDismemberSkinInstance -> Partitions -> Partitions -> Body Part

Typically all 3 need to match for an item to not be invisible in-game, but there may be exceptions. I'm not an expert.

I would recommend moving anything that tries to occupy slot 52 away from it, at least with female armour sets, for this reason alone.

 

If it's underwear/panties then I always use Slot 49, if it's trousers/pants/lowerbody something then 53 or 54 (which are tagged as left leg and right leg)
This can be a bit of a pain (not hard, just monotonous) especially with armour sets that have lots of components, Harry2135's are particularly bad for his choice of body slot but it will make life easier for you if you want to make a mash up of some different sets.
