Verify Cache Without Updating

Just want to ask if I would be safe to verify my cache without setting off this latest Update? I'm on SkyrimAE and my game is acting up, I want to verify my cache without getting stuck with this latest Update...I have my Steam set to Offline,

Probably not. Skyrim AE now installs version 1.6.629 that will break some AE specific mods.

 

* Downgrade to version 1.6.353 manually by copying the necessary files into game folder

* No need to be offline on Steam. Go into Steam Settings and specify a time period when Steam is allowed to download patches. Pick a time period when you are offline.

* Note though that will affect all your Steam games so you manually have to check Steam section Administer Downloads to manually activate the download of the patches you want

Insert this into the run dialog in Windows (Windows key + R), to open the hidden steam console:

steam://open/console

 

Look up the commands for downloading depots on google.

The Skyrim SE depots can be found here. You'd probably want to download disk, core, exe and your language file.

 

Note that Steam does not allow access to all manifests. It could be its no longer possible to download SSE, even if the manifests for it exist.

 

Unless you're already familiar with that process, it's probably going to be easier for you to let it update, and then use one of the downgrader apps to go back.
