Kelsirion Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Not sure if anyone else found it or not, but after you visit the Grey Beards in High Hrothgar and walk down the mountain, about halfway down is a cave marked Haemar's Shame. The cave is filled with Vampires and Vampire Thralls. Any attack from them will infect you with Sanguinism. You have the standard 3 days to cure it before becoming a full vampire with vampire powers. Like Oblivion though, vampirism works backwards from what people are used to in other games. So the longer you go without feeding the stronger your powers and the disease becomes. Unique powers of the vampires in Skyrim though are a lifetap/healthtap that lets you drain health from enemies at medium range (about the same range as Flame or Frost). Besides that, it seems almost identical to Oblivion so far. I still have not had any major ill effects from Sunlight other than the messages that "You feel weaker as the sun begins to rise..." and "The sunlight makes you blood feel like it wants to boil.." but I have not burst into flames or anything yet. I have gone about 3 days without feeding though, so not sure if sunlight kills you on the highest levels of vampirism or not.
Mouse Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 You can find more vampires in and NE of Morthal.
ReMeDy Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I've heard being a vampire kind of sucks in this game. Being a werewolf is much more effective, since you can walk during the day and you get better special abilities, or so I've been told. I'm really hoping for a Vampire mod, and quick. I don't understand why Bethesda kept Vampires backwards. Did they not get the memo that people hated their Oblivion vampire system!?!
Siouliusn Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I have already fought that part of game, and got the disease without knowing (didn't know which menu to check xD ) And for vampirism, even if the Cyrodil's one kinda sucks it is lore friendly ( a book talk about it ingame) but I hoped we'd have the chance to discover another form of vampirism in the Nord.
dysfunkshunal Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 I just started a thread about this wondering if there was vampires in this game before I read this post, lol. It does kinda suck that you can move around in daylight with little or no consequence. That defeats the whole point of vampirism and night-ops. Still, I'm gonna seek this out. I wanna be a vampire for a little bit. Does your skin/eyes change like in Oblivion?
leddis3 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Do you still become ugly and wrinkled like in Oblivion? Yeah yeah screw the lore I want my beautiful vampires!
Siouliusn Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Do like me, wait for a mod to keep a nice evil vampire
Kelsirion Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 Looks don't change. But the attitudes of the NPC's do and they make comments about your looks. Eventually they just kill you on sight. So this is some more I ran into. After 3 days without feeding you basically become a Stage 4 vampire. The thing is you cannot feed (at least I could not) until you become Stage 4 (starving). Also, you can only feed from sleeping NPC's. You need to be able to sneak into a town or find a lone sleeping NPC to feed on. Once you hit stage 4, every human and a lot of the animals are now Kill On Sight. They all attack instantly. Sneak becomes impossible. Even with the Shroud spell you get at Stage 4, they can still sense you and attack you and track you (beats me how they do that). So the game basically becomes broken and all quests are now stuck, since you cannot even get within a few hundred meters of a guard tower or town without being seen, hunted and killed. The effects of sunlight are that health and stamina drop by 50%. You do not take damage over time. They just cut your health and stamina in half no matter how much you have. So unless someone else has figured it out, the current vampire system to me seems very broken. You cannot feed until Stage 4. You cannot feed at Stage 4 because you cannot sneak and everyone senses you around. Once they do, they instantly attack and kill you. Unless I am missing something here? Anyone else been a successful vampire yet?
Lumpyhead Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 why did the make being a werewolf so good and totally gimp vampires? I have not completed the game but that is the general sense from what I have read so far
