Anyway to apply a .npc file to player character

Hello I have a bit of an issue. I was formatting a thumb drive and my dumbass realized I formatted my backup HDD instead ? good news after many hours was able to recover all my photos. Bad news lost all my gaming backups including my Skyrim character backups. I was however able to get .npc files of each of my characters but am not sure if there is a way to apply it to my character and then save it back again as a racemenu preset.

Project Proteus at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) allows you to make any npc or char into preset, it does a bunch of shit

Thanks for the reply. I tried that but the save files with my characters are corrupt. When I load a save it brings up the message saying "Save file corrupt" most I can do is open up the console and use console commands. And what I could tell with that mod is you have to be able to upload your character with the mod sadly. Unless there is something I'm missing.

If you have an *.npc file...

You could use Creation Kit to import the *.npc file into some actor (preferably of the same race as your character originally was), and make that actor into a character preset (if it isn't already).
Save that as a plugin, add that plugin into your load order, activate it, start a new game and select that character preset, then save it as RaceMenu preset file.

Exit the game, deactivate/uninstall that plugin.
Then use that Racemenu preset file to either start a new game, or to apply it to the player character in your current playthrough (using some console command to bring up the Racemenu or limited Racemenu, and loading the preset).

I don't recall the exact steps how to make an actor in CK into a character preset, and i am lazy to check and then describe it, but it is pretty straightforward and takes just a few seconds.

If it makes things easier, just post the NPC file(s) here (along with the info what race is it supposed to be), and i will do this and post the resulting Racemenu jslot file (make sure you quote this post, so i get the notification to come and check this thread again).

Thank you for your help! With what you told me I was able to figure it out and recover my character
