Adding HDT physics to racemenu hair

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is a repeat question but I've been googling for a few days and I'm yet to find a tutorial.

My question is how can I add physics to a non-hdt hair? Specifically I want to add physics to more of the KS-Hairdos hair. I know this is a difficult task but it's something I have wanted to learn for a while now so I'm prepared and looking to learn. I've also tried reaching out to mod authors on nexus and haven't gotten any replies.

Does anyone have a link to a tutorial? Or if not maybe someone could write a tutorial?

Thanks!

Hi, you may have an example for such a workaround...and then you should use the smp-physics so that your creations work inside of SE.

You have to use a 3D-software for loading the mesh (the HAIR) and look how it is been created in topology....means how it ´s construction is looking like (polygons). Then you have to learn to set bones onto the existing skeleton, so that the hair is then ready for a weight-paining to be able to follow to the bones....one longer bone-string is representing some few "virtual inches" of hair length and some few inches of wide-distance...maybe quite suiting to the construction of the mesh (hair). The bones are later driven by a small xml-file, which has all the info about the body´s head and body-collision inside and additionally it contains the way, how the bones are working side by side and how the bones are connected with each other. Hair use mostly two different sorts of meshes and it is merged together inside of the creation-kit-HDT-SMP/PE-hair can not being equipped by choosing it from the hair-menu-it can only being equipped to the character by adding a HDT-hair as a wig, which is choosen by add item menu.

Detailed workarounds you have to learn by very detailed steps. The first process here is the handling of a 3d-software, to learn about importing existing meshes and exporting them in a quality way, to learn how meshes can become "rigged" (bone-stuffed", or "getting a skeleton" for moving, weigth-painting inside of 3d-software and exporting such a whole project again with the complete structure so to suit to the head of a character. A whole tutorial may fill some more space, maybe about some hundred lines of text, aside with pictures and detailed "what to do next"- if you do that step by step and slowly, it ´s of course a fine job.
