Are the piles of dlcs nessary for most mods?

I'm thinking about playing sims4, never tried it before, mostly because of the scary dlc list, I own very little of them and would that be a problem for mods?

TL;DR: generally not, but read each mod instructions.

 

Not necessarily.

 

However, there are mods which have specific content for specific DLCs, so you may need to delete what you don't need/install only the one covering the DLCs you own.

 

For example, Lifetime Aspirations by ky-e, updated by NeedCoffee4That, , contains separate files for separate DLCs. I didn't read the instructions properly and the mod was generating an exception.
