Nonexistant Physics

Hi guys. I'm running VR with Armorsmith Extended, CBBE, CBBE Skimpy armor and clothing all in one, Eli's Armour Compendium, 3BBB High Poly Vanilla Clothing Overhaul, Skeletal Adjustments for CBBE, 3BBB, OCBP, and MTM, more or less in that load order. Everything looks great, but nothing bounces or jiggles or anything! Any help you guys could give would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I don't use CBBE (I use FG with ZEX), but doesn't OCBP and OCBPC require F4SE? I recommend with first confirming F4SE works with Fallout 4 Virtual, and then from there, if you're sure F4SE is compatible with it, you can check with the people who make or use the CBBE version of OCBP to confirm you have all you need set up properly.

Thanks for sharing! I do have SE running, but I replicated the same setup on non-VR and it was working, so I am guessing there is an issue with the CBBE/3BBB/OCBP combo in the VR version in particular. I have been reading here that most people go with FG and ZEX, but what are the additional pieces required, if you don't mind my asking? I'm looking to try switching it up in this case.

Hi, BrandMegan :)

Fusion Girl (for female characters) with BodyTalk (or Atomic Muscle) use the ZAZ Extended Skeleton. The ZEX skeleton has additional bones for both male and female characters used by adult animations and by OCBP/OCBPC.

This means that you'd need to upgrade all your female and male outfits to conversions with use the ZEX skeleton. Theoretically you can tell OCPB/OCBPC not to apply to male characters which might let you get away with only upgrading female characters, but I never tried that as I use BodyTalk and FusionGirl both. You'd also need to make sure any FG conversions are to version 1.75 or newer (there's no functional difference in normal gameplay to 1.75 to 1.80+).

All the best animations are built to Zex Skeleton, so if you want to use any of those to their full power you'd need to do that anyway.

I've been using FusionGirl with Zex for at least 3 or 4 years (since whenever it first came out), so to me it's very easy. But there's a fairly steep learning curve to doing your own conversions, and there really aren't any fully functional tutorials as the procedure for upgrading one type of outfit will always differ from upgrading another. So initially you're better off using other people's conversions.

Keep in mind there are some people who convert to FG outfit body (which doesn't have genital and nipple sliders). So those conversions are fairly useless as they don't support any presets which use those sliders (they'll clip horribly). But to my knowledge there's only one or two people who convert to clothing sliders rather than to nude sliders.

The steps, then, to switching from CBBE (and its variants) to FusionGirl are:

1. Install ZEX Skeleton

2. Install FusionGirl

3. Install OCBP and OCBPC, and pick the presets (the default FG presets are fine, though most people including me next use the MrTroubleMaker presets from there, for FG of course)

4. Install the male body of your choice (BodyTalk or AtomicMuscle, though I know less about AtomicMuscle as I use BT)

5. Install the clothing conversions of your choice. At the very least start with vanilla clothing replacements and then go from there.

6. Build all outfits in BodySlide to the preset of your choice (both female and male as applicable)

That's pretty much it. There are discord servers for ZEX, FG and BodyTalk to my knowledge, so detailed help is usually pretty easy to find there during installation.

It's generally impolite to ask about CBBE in FG/ZEX discord servers, so most people who think those servers are unhelpful are people who ask about CBBE in a non-CBBE server *laughs* but I don't see that as an issue as they shouldn't have asked about CBBE there anyway :) But they're very helpful when people ask about the right stuff there.

If I forgot to answer anything please let me know. If I know an answer I'm always happy to try to help (as are many here), but I have less knowledge than some people and almost no knowledge about the CBBE-related stuff as I switched away from CBBE many years ago :)

Thanks a bunch!

I have had some success! I've gotten to the point where a single female raider corpse has physics, but only this one! Another oddity is as soon as I remove the gunner harness she's jiggling under, the body swaps to some sort of default (even though I batch built!) and no longer moves. Equipping the same harness on my follower gives no physics either... Do you know anyone who has run into this? Or do you think you see the problem?

You've been super helpful so far! Thanks again!

Hi, BrandMegan. The good news is if the physics work for the clothing on that one raider they probably work for your whole game.

I say probably because there's an older style physics which doesn't use OCBP/OCBPC, and it's theoretically possible that outfit was built with old cloth physics. However, if that's not the case, then you do have good news.

Assuming the working outfit was the correct type of physics, that means you need to make sure you built the naked female body to the same physics as you built that outfit. It also means most of your outfits probably are built with the wrong type of physics as well.

However, as I don't use CBBE (nor its "3bbb" variation) I don't know what outfits you need to install and build to get what you wish :(

But it is sounding like you probably have working physics and just need to get the nude body and outfits built to take advantage of it.

Thanks for the response!

The harness came as a set of outfits, so theoretically they all should have the same build, right?

The weirdest thing is that even if the same outfit is taken from that corpse and put on someone else, nothing!

As a newbie to this, how do physics get built into outfits? If I could theoretically get into OutfitStudio, what am I looking for?

Hi, BrandMegan. Again, my capacity to help is only partial as I'm unfamiliar with the CBBE variety of OCBP/OCBPC physics.

I know that with ZEX and Fusion Girl the following bones must exist in the skeleton, the nude body and in all outfits:

  • Belly_01
  • Belly_02
  • Breast_CBP_L_02
  • Breast_CBP_L_03
  • Breast_CBP_L_04
  • Breast_CBP_R_02
  • Breast_CBP_R_03
  • Breast_CBP_R_04
  • Butt_CBP_L_01
  • Butt_CBP_R_01
  • Thigh_CBP_L_B_02
  • Thigh_CBP_L_F_02
  • Thigh_CBP_R_B_02
  • Thigh_CBP_R_F_02

However, I don't think the CBBE offshoot of OCBP uses ZEX Skeleton, and it's likely the person or people who ported ZEX to the CBBE version didn't use the same naming convention.

1. So first you need to find out from the 3BBB people what bones are used for your CBBE variation of OCBP/OCBPC

2. Then you can look inside the outfit studio projects at the bones for the body and clothing to see if they're using the bones which your 3BBB uses with OCBP/OCBPC

3. Then you should make sure you're using the OCBP/OCBPC intended for CBBE and not the OCBP/OCBPC intended for ZEX and Fusion girl

4. Finally you should make sure whatever OCBP/OCBPC configuration files you're using are for CBBE (what you call 3BBB) and not for Fusion Girl.

Make Sure you've built the 3bbb versions of the outfits in bodyslide.

Load order from mine with working physics is

CBBE

skeletal adjustments for CBBE

3BBB physics (CBBE-TWB)

OCBP

MTM 3B OCBP

As for what bones to look for in outfit studio if your curious about things.

I believe it is

LBREAST_01_Skin

LBREAST_02_Skin

LBREAST_03_Skin

RBREAST_01_Skin

RBREAST_02_Skin

RBREAST_03_Skin

LButt_01_Skin

RButt_01_Skin

ect

So as an update, I have learned that neither OCBP nor OCBPC are built for VR, as the dlls need to be specifically tuned for the vr version of fse. The working version is just CBP and only works with CBBE. It looks like there are physics for many more actors at this point, but definitely not my followers. I'm at least narrowing things down.

If it ends up being that there's no OCBP/OCBPC support for Fallout 4 VR I recommend uninstalling the "3BBB" stuff for your CBBE as there'd be no point in it. As I recall, CBP was still a step up from the old cloth physics for breasts. If I remember correctly, it doesn't support full body physics (thighs, butt, belly, etc.), and it can't support collision, but it's still pretty. There's no harm in using just the CBP and keeping an eye out to see if the rest ever gets converted to Fallout 4 VR :)
