PsychoMachina Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I'm having difficulty importing the ECE-CME facegen to an npc, both custom and vanilla. The results is the npc has a different nose, but not the face I wanted to give her. When using SetNPCWeight 100 or SetRace the new face appears, albeit with a dark face. I have been doing the following: 1) In CK, load Skyrim.esm, go to Gameplay > Settings and changed the NoseMorphCount to 32. 2) Save the new plugin (example: Lydia.esp). 3) Load Skyrim.esm, CharacterMakingExtender.esp, and Lydia.esp (active). 4) Go to Actors > Actor and open HousecarlWhiterun. 5) In the CharacterGenMorph tab, I click Reset All then choose NoseType32. 6) Close the window, create the head tint, and save the plugin. I tried adding the face data (<facedata>.npc) and that only added the face tints and a big read mark across the forehead. I believe this is caused by one of the morphs that raises or lowers the face (gives the effect of shortening the forehead). Does anyone who had success share some info on what else needs to be done or what I did wrong. Thanks for any help.
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 I've never edited an NPC in CK with ECE since I use Racemenu but from what I understand about the CKs facegen the rendered face in CK won't look exactly like what you want the char will look like in game but should look right when added to Skyrim. However, I have yet to get a character created with CK to look exactly like they should using my PC faces as the base. CK in General is shit when it comes to modding faces.
FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 The "coloured forehead" bug is one of a series of little glitches which are caused by the CK not handling modded tintmasks (ie: makeup, etc.) well. The workaround is very simple. Before opening the CK, go to ...\skyrim\Data\Textures\actors\character\character assets and *TEMPORARILY* remove your "tintmasks" folder (make a copy on your desktop if you like). When you're done, put the "tintmasks" folder BACK where you found it. Done!

Now if only I can remember where I put that list. @Keera I think my problem is CME is not loading the new face for the npc just like it does for the pc. Too bad because it has the potential to give npcs better looking and unique faces that CK alone cannot do.
friki987 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 For simply editing faces. I use the Skyrim NPV Editor , But I could't use it with mods. However, it can modify the vanilla face. Which will be later affected by mods. So you can get pretty decent faces. For making it work without the dark head and neck seams. First of all, Change the weight of the NPC in-game. Then install the new face (be sure that the Weight in the Editor and in-game match) I used it to have a better companions. (yes, the ones in Jorrvaskr)
PsychoMachina Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 Thank you for your advise, but my problem is importing the saved facegen created when using Character Making Extender that is part of ECE. Here is what I'm trying to fix. My Monli character, Chaos. I tried to import her facegen to Jordis in CK following the instructions posted by tktk1. This is what Jordis looks like when I start the game. When I use the SetNPCWeight command to change her weight to 100 (her weight by default is 100), her appearance changes to the CME facegen. I can only assume CME is not loading the face data for the npcs that are assigned the CME created faces, but if that is the case, tktk1 would have stated importing faces to npcs would not work some or all of the time.
