nilead Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 After a bunch of fiddling ive got an armor system i like, and its modular. But its out of place, NPCs still use conventional 4 piece armor scheme. If something like your vambraces get broken - tough luck, cant replace, those arend a thing outside of PC bubble. Repair/Craft new ones. Well, there is TAWOBA breakdown/loot, but thats about it, and again, its more of superstructure than integration. Adding choice sets to unique NPCs seems like an available option, if extremely time consuming one. Still, vast majority of opponents you meet are generated non-uniques. Arming those with modular sets looks like a proper solution. Ive given a whirl to ALLA, but it seems to add stuff to existing leveled lists, meaning - sure, they'll spawn with vambraces, but those will be assigned instead of gloves, not with them. Not to mention wild mismatches that occur between pieces. Fine, i thought, lets try the hard way. As i went to poke in SSEedit, it looks like there are big "umbrella" leveled actors. Say, bandit boss, that comes with a bunch of sub-actors for different level ranges, those branch out into different races, sexes (not all seem to have sex in their name, so some are unisex?) and weapon loadouts. Those link to "outfits" wich are in fact a list of links to othere leveled items, like helmets or boots. Now, the way i see it - to make blanket modular armor a reality, id have to create new leveled lists, call them "LitemBanditLightShoulderpads/LitemBanditLightVambraces" etc, fill them with corresponding parts and then manually add to every outfit list. Task looks... big. Doable, probably, but daunting. One thing id hate to discover after a day or two of fiddling is that there is a scirpted plugin that just allows setting a chance to replace template NPC outfit outfit with a pre-determined one on load the npc, foregoing the entire dance. So, did i get the idea correctly? Is there no more elegant solution, or did my google skills fail me? And if anyone tried something similar - how can one speed up the process?
DeWired Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 There is a mod SPID - Spell Perk Item Distributor. I think, it can do what you want with some work. Maybe you still would need to create outfits in editor, but getting them to NPCs can be done with SPID and little config. Also, there are examples. 1

Also, there are example Well, now this is quite embarrasing, as not only do i run SPID, but i've got some custom rules for it. Before i started digging, i did not understand what an "outfit" is, as far as skyrim is concerned. So i tried distributing items as is, and they ended up in NPC inventory, not equippped. And by the time i got to understanding outfit system, i had "wont work" checkmark on SPID in my mind. Will take a bit of trial and error to get the appearence rate correctly, but its infinitely easier than what i had in mind. Thanks a bunch.
shadowman2777 Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 (edited) Also check out this incredible mod https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/24334 It allows you to setup outfits using additem menu and assign them to various classes of npc. You can even make them change randomly every day! If you decide you want to go back to the original game outfits, you can revert the process without starting a new game. Edited 9 hours ago by shadowman2777 I really need to figure out how to make LL notify me of topic replies. That is just about the solution i wanted in a first place. A touch less flexibility than SPID, but hell of a lot easier to use, particularly since SPID SSEedit sctipt does seem to consistently error when used on an outfit. Writing .ini manually is not rocket sience, but not having to write one at all is that much more preferable. Great suggestion.
Antiope_Apollonia Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 The other way to do it would be to not touch the NPCs themselves at all and just edit the vanilla outfits to contain the items you want. You could probably make a patch for all the vanilla outfits in an hour or two in xEdit.
