Ported mod not working as expected.

I've recently come to SE from LE. I ported one of my mods using Cathedral and it seems to be working fine. (A Milky Life... not released the SE version yet while I... test)

Another of my mods, The Milk Maid was ported by someone else. I've edited it on the LE side since that port so I ran it through Cathedral and it seems to "hang" when starting animations in scenes. I've never really been happy with The Milk Maid and have often though about redoing it from scratch. 

If I build it from scratch for SE is it reasonable to expect a better outcome? Is there something in porting these that sometimes just doesn't square them up properly?
