How to get started?

Hello there,

I just decided to make Skyrim sexier and don't really have a clue where to start. Is there a core mod, like in Sims 4, from where you can start and add stuff to match your preferences? If not, what are the must-have mods to get started? I don't really know what's possible in this game and i guess i want a normal gameplay with extended functions and stuff to do.
