Why would swapping a functional mesh CTD me?

Right so here's what I did... I took the barkeeper meshes from Caliente's vanilla pack and moved them to YarlClothes\F\ instead. If I then try to put on say Noble Clothes then my game will instantly CTD. No mesh change whatsoever. What's more, the barkeeper outfit works fine in-game with that same exact mesh. How is that even possible? Even with the correct texture paths in the nif it's a CTD.

 

Oh and if you're curious, this is what I made tonight that I'm trying to see in-game:

(And I should mention that I could see it in-game using the barkeeper outfit just swapping out the barkeeper textures instead, so it's not my textures either)

cant get it from mega..it only open mega main page..

 

you could put it in attachement or just post the screenshot of that outfit nif structure.

My only guess is that maybe the bodyparts for the two outfits are different in the CK and when it tries to load some bone listed maybe the game is crashing because it isn't there or something. I'm looking into that right now anyhow to see if that's the case. That wasn't it.

 

edit: I tried out putting the vanilla barkeeper meshes extracted straight from the bsa and those work fine, so it has to be something to do with the cbbe meshes. I'm going to see if maybe my bodyslide did something (though it would be strange to work replacing barkeeper but not yarl) and see if maybe the default cbbe one rather than one that I messed with using bodyslide works.

 

edit: The unmodified (no bodyslide used, just extracted directly from the zip) mesh from Caliente's vanilla pack used as a replacer for barkeeper crashes my game as well, so bodyslide isn't the culprit. Something is wrong with the mesh that would cause it to CTD if used for a clothing item other than barkeeper.

I'm not sure, but have you tried to put on the normal Noble Clothes without the replaced mesh?

My guess here is that JarlClothes are missing the 1st person mesh description in the skyrim.esm. Not intended to be worn by player maybe?

Yes, without replacing the mesh for yarlclothes I get no CTD and the armor shows up fine. Consequently, I also do not get a CTD if I replace yarlclothes with the barkeeper meshes directly from the vanilla bsa.

one thing that i really notes is the outfit using several skirt bones, i tried DL some barkeeper outfit mod in nexus and none of them are using it. probably it always is since i'm away from my computer (at office right now) so i really cant tell by not looking at vanilla files,  but since you can use it by replacing vanilla barkeeper not the jarl clothes is kinda weird. 

 

perhaps it has something to do with dismemberment (especially partition number 34 in the outfit which is mostly use by gauntlet 33-34 and it was set with PF EDITOR VISIBLE only, usually it was set with PF_EDITOR_VISIBLE | PF_START_SET_BONESET), where some part of the outfit with different partition number is being replace by armor/outfit that use the slot . 

 

maybe you can open the vanilla/replacer of jar clothes that you curently using and compare/check the nif structure to find the culprit.

Also, just to throw it out there... I've tried matching the node names and changing the astrid texture references to the standard female body.

edit: heh, well figured that one out... there's no BSDismemberSkinInstance for the cloak. That's inconvenient. I don't even know how to convert to editable poly and keep that crap since it just vanishes and selecting all the connected faces one by one without it would be retarded.
