Tinxi Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Skyrim is sounding like my windows media player. But when i use VLC media player, the same sounds that i cannot hear inside the game without using headphones, becomes very loud. I have tried many .ini settings and various HQ sound mods but they do not change anything. Please help.
Roggvir Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Have you had a look at the Audio settings in the game options? Does it help if you try to fiddle with the sliders a bit? It may be something with your drivers, maybe somehow you or your OS decided to change the default audio output device for the game, or maybe it is just the game acting up - there are some known sound issues, caused by the game not remembering/restoring the volume of all sounds (voices/footsteps/ambience/etc.), and that problem was fixed by SSE Engine Fixes - are you already using it? If not, you should give it a go, even if your problem is something else, the SSE Engine Fixes correct quite a lot of annoying issues.

Yes but the in-game sliders can only mute the sound completely and do not increase it. 1 hour ago, Roggvir said: It may be something with your drivers, maybe somehow you or your OS decided to change the default audio output device for the game, Both call of duty and fallout 4 have very loud sounds without changing any of their settings so it has to be something with this game. 1 hour ago, Roggvir said: or maybe it is just the game acting up - there are some known sound issues, caused by the game not remembering/restoring the volume of all sounds (voices/footsteps/ambience/etc.), and that problem was fixed by SSE Engine Fixes - are you already using it? I did installed SE engine fixes through mod organizer 2 but did not configured its settings. How do you setup this mod ?

How do you setup this mod ? First of all, make sure you really did install it correctly - the mod comes in two parts: - Part 1 can be installed using MO - Part 2 ?must? be installed manually, because those files must go into the same folder where the game EXE is (one level above the "Data" folder) and unless i am mistaken MO isn't allowed to write there? (i could be mistaken, i am not using MO, so if i am wrong about this, somebody correct me). The mod's description page mentions it and hopefully explains it. To configure the mod, you can edit the "EngineFixes.toml" file using any plain text editor (Notepad++, or just the Notepad included in Windows). When you instal lthe mod, you find this file in Data\SKSE\Plugins\ (when locating the file, take into consideration your Mod Manager's virtual file system - if you are using it - in which case i can't help you with that)
