PhoenixFlyer324 Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 (edited) So I've been trying for a while to get my Skyrim SE working can't figure out what to do. SOS SE is not working for me, it says I'm missing the DLL for it even though I have it installed and it doesn't work when I enter the game, this includes I'm pretty sure the mods depending on it, like the revealing armour mods I have. I gave up trying to fix it for a couple of months. Now when I go into the game it's saying SexLab itself isn't working, something to do with it not being up to date or it's outdated one of the two. I'm also having issues with SKSE itself, it's saying the most recent version of SKSE for Special Edition is 2.0.20 but when I go to play the game it says my version of SE is more updated. So I switched it's version to 2.1.5 which I knew wouldn't work since that's for AE and that is what is giving me the SOS and SexLab issues I'm having now. I tried installing the AE version of SOS to see if that worked, but that version confuses me as it's only a couple MB of storage if I remember which to be seems way to small. Anyway confusion aside I installed it and when I did the game just crashes when I try to load a save or start a new game. Also for some reason I don't have SexLab Animation Loader installed anymore even though I know I never got rid of it, and I can't for the life of me find it again. Can anyone please help me? weisuojiushiwd Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 (edited) Double check your skyrim version.Special edition or Skyrim? I doubt you missing with SE and LE. SKSE is the basic of skyrim mod.If you can’t install it correctly.Don’t install any other mod. Edited May 28, 2022 by weisuojiushiwd
Bluegunk Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I assume you're using Skyrim SE. Remove and put aside all mods. First up, make sure the Skyrim.exe is genuinely the SE version, and not the AE one. Steam may have upgraded it when you didn't look. Make sure the game folder is all in place and start up from the basic Skyrim Launcher, set your settings, and then launch the vanilla game. If that works, move to the next step. Secondly, install the correct SKSE for Skyrim SE. Then test your game using the SKSE game launcher. If that all works, build your Sexlab and SOS mods and test each time. Once you have got these working then you should be OK. Good luck.

Steam did update it around March and it was still the Special Edition and not Anniversary Edition. I'm not 100% sure if that was when my issues started, I'm quite sure it was. But I have no idea how to downgrade it. Also I don't know if I'm able to disable automatic updates on steam anymore, I can't find the option anywhere. Also I presume just disabling mods won't work. Also I don't know if it will help but I use Vortex to manage my mods.

If you right-click on the file and call up "properties" you can look at the Details tab: And if you want the SE, it is v 1.5.97.0 . This is the one I am running. If you have a later version, it will be the AE version. So, actually you have a choice. Perhaps it's a good time to move to AE? AE has some advantages: the script engine is better, and the game world refined. A lot of mods are now in AE with the exception of Improved Camera, and that will be released soon for AE. Anyhow, if you have the AE Skyrim.exe and you wish to revert, you could look at this "Unofficial" route: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57618 It has loads of endorsements, so it must be doing the job right. I cannot advise you on your choice or what you do; I'm just offering some ideas. Now, whichever route you take, you perhaps could bookmark these really useful pages: SKSE mods and conversions to AE: https://modding.wiki/en/skyrim/users/skse-plugins and the LL Compatibility Tracking page: https://www.loverslab.com/topic/94228-se-compatibility-tracking-june-6-②④⑦-7223/ This latter page will show you which mods will work in AE or not. So for mods like SOS, you can see what the situation is. These pages should help you choose the route you wish to go. I'm not a Vortex user, but I know there are loads of help pages out there if you search in Google or Bing. It might be worth reminding yourself on how to enable / disable and update mods in Vortex. As for Steam, that is a @*!! Pain in the rear end! Here's how to stop Steam automatically updating Skyrim SE. it's a kind of bodge, but it does the trick: Hope this has been of some help! Regards, BG. This did help a good bit thanks, my save files keep crashing although that's probably just because of the massive change, I'll just start a new game. The only issue I have now is for some reason I don't have SexLab Animation Loader anymore and because of how annoying this sites search feature is I can't find it do redownload it, any chance you could link it to me?
