No option for what house to move into after marriage

So im unable to choose the house i wish for my character and spouse to move into, they just go back to what ever theyre default location was. I tried marrying Isobel from interesting NPCs which started this whole thing, and then I tried it with Lydia and still nothing. i can still talk to them afterwards, but it doesnt seem like the game registers that my character and spouse are married, is there any fix to this or do i just need to start a new character?

EDIT: Had to restart my character anyways due to being unable to load the save back up after disabled a mod to see if it was the problem
