squall1151 Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 hi i been looking around and im trying to find out if skyrim is still capped for ram? i keep finding people saying yes it and, and others saying no its not, even the dates are in 2013 and they say yes. so im just wondering is it? If so how can i uncap it? since i have 16gb of ram and i wona use most of it. cheers
LaEspada Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 From my current understanding, Skyrim USED to be capped to only using 2GB of ram but i believe the 1.5 update (or so) unlocked that cap to 4GB. Don't quote me, it's only from the top of my head. I kind of have a similar question because I have 8GB of RAM but when I use monitoring program to watch my RAM usage while playing Skyrim I'm a little confused because the maximum I've ever seen Skyrim use is 2.4GB of RAM. And I have a lot of graphic intense mods and my frame-rate is 40+, but then you have to take into account your CPU, GPU, type of drive Skyrim is stored on, etc, etc
Adam Jensen Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I believe the limit is 4gb, though I am not sure. A shame though, I have 16 gb myself and I would love to take this baby to the next level.
Guest Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 2147483647 is the limit 2000000000 is 4gb So I put iMaxAllocatedMemoryBytes=2147483647 under papyrus in skyrim.ini.
moomore Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 The limit is 3.1GB. It is fairly well documented here: http://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=1929 On page 12, there's a guy who reports having a VRAM usage of 5.2 GB but having to stay at about 2.7GB of RAM usage. Currently, the only way to mitigate the RAM limit is to flush out the memory by way of cleanmem. ATTK loader also helps.
Guest Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 If they don't increase ram in another update I'm quitting skyrim.
