Racemenu + Standalone EFF Cosmetic Menu - LE Edition

So I would like to add various Bodypaint, facepaint, tattoos or what not that I have installed from a bunch of Overlay packs. I don't care to use EFF fully but did find the mod Standalone EFF mod and it works pretty well for what I wanted. Changing small aspects of followers I use often. At first it didn't work until I saw you need to change a line in Nioverride, it does recommend you NOT change this.

[Overlays]
; Applies to only the player, or all humanoid actors NOT RECOMMENDED changing this, you can add overlays to certain actors via script
bPlayerOnly=1 ; Default[1]

Has anyone changed it and has anything bad happened? I switched it to 0 and went into game and could add tattoo's to my followers. Just curious if it will cause an issue in the long run.

I've told myself for years to learn how to mod NPCs because I'd love for them to appear how I want in game and using a few tools I do have a select few that I have customized to my liking, would be nice to add tattoos to many of them, just want to make sure I'm not going to cause a problem changing that line to =0.

Hello!

Download the following file, https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37661

Now if you allow face paint through nio override there will be no chance of that horrible crash ever happening cause decaps are no longer possible with that patch above.

Sadly its a little unknown file but if you are into customization of your characters goes a long way to preventing issues.

Basic description of problem,

IF you allow face paint altering via nio override, when npc with said facepaint gets decapped and sometimes the actual player characte believe it or not the whole game will CTD!  However if there is no way for the decap killmove to be called on this never ever happens...Hence the need for a file like the one posted.

Other files actually do this also such as Violence and I think there were other killmove mods that allowed removing the feature of decaps.

Hmmm, so if I choose to not allow facepaints there shouldn't be an issue? Also the mod that is allowing me to recruit followers is TDF Prostitution which from my understanding makes them unkillable except from my own actions. basically recruits them via prostitution, has them follow me until SL Eager NPCs builds up friendship til they are a confidant and then recruit them via Um.... AFT? So either way they are protected with both mods from a decapitation attempt.

Either way, so thats the main reason for the file to not be altered I assume?

Right the warning is there because if a NPC with altered face paint gets decapped the game crashes.

The work around is to disable decaps.

Or as you pointed out dont paint the faces of NPC's that could be kill moved.

Sounds good to me, I assume also don't go overboard and put textures on dozens of NPCs in the same area, will have to see if/when that happens. I do tend to build up a tiny harem in my play throughs. Usually buy a large house and after an NPC gets to be a lover thru SLEN, I bring them to stay at a house. Either way, shouldn't have any decapitated lovers happening in my game.

Heh, soooo NOPE. Game crashes regardless of paint on them, well... couldn't tell. Female Bandit with a helm, animation started to decap and POOF, Back to desktop :P

Found another reason why its required. Sitting in Solitude, just got there for the first time this play through. Kept crashing and didn't know why. Well... decaps. This apparently includes the Rogvir execution. It doesn't crash immediately and basically got into a building and waited a few days before going back outside and it didn't crash anymore.
