Looking for tips to improve my animation

Hello there,

first of all I would like to say thank you for all the great content provided by the many talented people on here.

Since I already hade some basic knowledge of blender I figured I might try to do some animation work (so far I only did modelling and never anything with animating).

I am aware that this is terrible but I am hoping for suggestions how to make it look less stiff (especially the hip area of the male and female,) Whenever I try to rotate the hips I feel it looks much too contorted. compared to their back(s)

Thank you in advance

the highest issue with your animations (and most others, as well as "top" animators apparently, so nothing to shame I guess) is that the motion of both sims are the same, which made it looks higly robotic and unnatural. You have to desynch their movement and take into account the gravity for the hip thrust.

To be fair, there's a lot of things wrong there that I could create a whole list of things to fix. I think what you should do is to learn Inverse kinematics and forward kinematics first, because you will suffer trying to animate such pose without them, since the arms and legs shouldn't move like that.
I think the male need way more fixing, because it looks like he is flying.

In that position the male shouldn't move the upper body that much. Also when you move your pelvis your whole back does not move with it, just slightly. There, it's too much. And the arms shouldn't move like that, since the body need them to make pressure.

Just add IK constraints to your rig.

Animating is just not moving bones and doing an animation, you have to learn how rigs works, what they do, and eventually creating a rig controller that can make your life a bit easier.

Yeah now that you said it, it makes sense, but I never payed attention to it yet.

Do you happen to know any good tutorials using the custom rig? All I could find were tutorials using a much simpler rig with 5 Bones at max.

After some experimenting with Inverse Kinematics I rebuild the animation from 0 again and feel like its already much improved but there is still a long way to go.

So yeah that was an important advice.
