Good free/cheap gameplay video capture/editing software?

Hey! I've been really interested in making my own scenes and videos to try and chronicle some of my stories/saves. Does anybody know of any good software for video capture/editing that isn't just the Sims 4 video capture?

 

I'm not looking for anything too crazy. Just something that I could use to record video, and stitch multiple recordings together to make one fluid scene/video.

not sure about "free" video editing, for capture I use OBS (https://obsproject.com/)

OBS for capturing, has some settings you can adjust to get the best possible quality. DaVinc Resolve has a huge number of features as a video editor and is completely free.

Thank you!! These tools work very well together, and I can't wait to dive deeper in and see what they can really do! 

 

They're also very easy and intuitive to use! I was able to throw together a small test scene together in about 20-30 Min

There are some tutorials you can follow if Resolve doesn't run so well in your machine. Search "DaVinci Resolve Optimizations" on Google or DDG.

If you're looking for something that's simple and quick for both capturing and editing, I've actually been using movavi on my laptop for little gameplay projects. I’m not super techy, but I found it pretty easy to set up for recording my screen, and then later just cut, stitch, and add basic effects without any fuss. It doesn’t overwhelm you with menus, but you’ve got all the basics plus some fun transitions and music built in. You can try it for free before you decide if it’s for you. For basic game videos or just stringing clips together, it’s honestly been way less hassle than some of the pro tools I tried before.
