SkyTem Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 There are other armor break mods for Skyrim out there but few of them work for both weapon attacks and spells. Also most require having either a weapon enchant or completion of a quest series. It would be really cool if there was a mod that gave both the Dragonborn and enemies armor breaking attacks simply by having a mod installed. The idea of the mod would be this: As the player or enemy took damage a different piece of their armor would be dropped or unequipped becoming broken and unusable at different percentages of their health until it got repaired. The Helmet for light/heavy armor and the chest piece for clothing would break at 65% health. The Chest piece for light/heavy armor and the helmet for clothing would break at 50% health. The gloves and boots would both break at 35% health. And finally the bra slot item "if the character is a female" would break at 25% health. "I like how you can see a characters face with the helmet for clothing on so I had the clothing and light/heavy armor pieces break at different times for the helmet and chest slots". Additionally there would be npcs in town who would be able to repair any of your broken armor pieces/clothing for a price. Also you would have an ability called repair that allowed you to repair a piece of armor while outside of combat as long as your blacksmithing skill was high enough to produce that type of armor. To use it you would need either another piece of armor made from that material "to sacrifice in repairing it" or the materials needed to produce that item. This takes elements from other mods and uses the best formula for an armor break mod IMO. What do you guys think ?? Any good modders out there up for it ??
nilead Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 Thats a very ambitious request, considering the amount of work neccecery. Id say just use MWA/Echidna, i believe both allow setting a priority of slots to break. MWA is considerably more feature complete and complex, covering weapons, offering immunity lists, has a significant economy factor and so on. Echidna is lighter and allows self repair, but it has much less features and doesnt allow weapons. Advantage of your idea would be - instead of relative priorities you get arbitrary HP limits. Wich is questionable, considering existance of restoration school in game and healing in general. Thats even for vanilla skyrim, without accounting for possible anti-synergy with armor overhauls like TA. If you're dead set on having exactly that approach - you can try to commision such a mod, but its unlikely anyone will take on such amount of work for free, considering existing alternatives to such a mod.
SkyTem Posted January 24, 2022 Author Posted January 24, 2022 I've tried out MWA but I didn't know about the Echidna mod. I tried to find the Echidna mod in LL but it's not coming up. Would you happen to have the link or know where I could get that one?
SkyTem Posted January 24, 2022 Author Posted January 24, 2022 Thanks for giving me the heads up on the difficulty of making a mod like this. I don't make mods myself but I've talked with a few other people who do. Found the Echidna but it looks like it's just texture packs and doesn't actually have an armor break system with it Thanks for the message though. I found it at:
SkyTem Posted February 1, 2022 Author Posted February 1, 2022 Found the mod you were talking about. It's actually called Ecchina armor break. You can find the link to it here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/ecchina-armor-13-40583374
SkyTem Posted February 1, 2022 Author Posted February 1, 2022 Found another one that is a defeat mod with possibly stripping during combat. Haven't had the time to try it out yet. Its:
SkyTem Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 Iv'e tried out both of these mods now and sadly with both you only get the stripping effect through melee combat ?! Thanks for trying though. I'll have to keep looking.
SkyTem Posted February 11, 2022 Author Posted February 11, 2022 I've tried out but never really liked True Armor so that wouldn't be an issue if your someone who doesn't use that ?. As for restoration, having armor break at certain health percentages would give you a reason to always keep your health at least above 50% through potions and healing spells ?.
