If EA was smart they would pay modders like Whicked whims when sims 5 comes out

they could pay them to create the adult stuff and work with them more.  but keep them outside of the company like contractors.  they would reach to a whole lot more people buying the game instead of limiting their selves to such a small community.  its like like they think only 12 year olds play games. Gen x'rs are in there 40's now and they are the gaming community.  gaming is the new TV.

Posted

They'd have to keep it secret but it would benefit the game. I still think it's suspicious that right when Sims 4 started to really bomb in sales we had Wicked Whims appear, but I am thankful, it certainly saved the game!

Posted

Simply wouldn't happen. Any association at all with official adult rated content would change the rating of the game and make it inaccessible to a huge portion of their customer base. They do need the mods, but they don't need to do it themselves. The most they could really do is provide a easier set of tools straight out of the box capable of modding the game in "any way one sees fit" without making some things so difficult to edit/override, but they still couldn't acknowledge or support the adult content in any form.

U re dumb enough to think that an adult mod would make them money. The reality is vanilla fanbase are much much more than WW communities, so they will never go down that road, not to mention the controversy that goes along

It's not about R rated or  adult content... Look at what a one person can make (any CC creator) or Twisted Mexi with his create-a-world that EA claimed is imposible... Heck EA is so deep with their head into their butt that games like Paralives blows them out of the water with sophistication while their game is still in Alpha stage of development.

Once is out I'm going to switch to it just to build building without having to waste time with the cheat (geez I played this game for so long that I don't even remember how I could play vanilla TS4 without cheat codes...) and Twisted Mexi T.O.O.L.

TL:DR It not about adult content but more about features and that the engine that was used to design TS4 is old and limited to the point that even EA cannot do much with their own game.

So much focus on Paralives and no one seems to recognise Alterlife either? EA faces two credible threats to their survival in the niche sim game market.

So what if there is gameplay footage of how to build a house on a lot, what i'm more interested in is the type of gameplay content your sim can get away with in Paralives or Alterlife, where they can go and what they can do, and what mod creators are likely jump ship and offer support.

Posted

ParaliParalives is pushing out regularly content on their youtube channel, Alterlife have had their trailer published 8 months ago and they're dead silent.ves is pushing out content on their youtube channel, Alterlife have had their trailer published 8 months ago and they're dead silent, so I cannot blame people that they don't know anything about that game. Even I completely forgot that this game existed due to the lack of traction on their YT.

https://www.youtube.com/c/Paralives

Regarding custom content for both - it depends on the game and if the developer will deliver on their promises. Would be easier if we have had official Sims Studio to create content, but kits would be blow out of the water and EA wouldn't make a dime on them lol.

Same goes to Paralives and Alterlife - if they're not as scummy as EA they'll probably publish some modding tools if not... Well, you'll have to wait to enough people with knowledge bought the game and like it enough to be willing to spent time and create necessary tools to implement custom content into it.

I'm leaning towards Alterlife graphics and design, but nowadays AAA developers & publishers can over-promise and underdeliver (*cough*CP2077*cough*) so I'm curbing my excitement for it. It just looks too good.

Agreed on EA not making the game for Adults only

That said, I also agree that it shouldn't be left up to a few dedicated & determined individuals who happen to know a little something about coding & game development to figure out how to mod the game & release tools for others to mod the game either

This stuff can be offered for free & the link to them can (If need be) BURIED in the fine print of the bottom of the site page

I say this because I'm in the final stages of releasing v 1.0 of Woohoo TV (A cable TV system of Adult channels I've made. The other one is an SFW cable TV system made up of SFW content that's also on the brink of being released)

All I need is a way to make the AVI files into video playlists & PACKAGE files (No way to do that with nothing more than an old Android phone to work with)

There are few mods with custom channels already -for example, CinErotique -, you might want to ask the creators how did they converted their video into package files.

Also going back to the entire issue with adult content in TS4 - The Gallery. EA probably wants to avoid even a glimpse of a adult content on a gallery to which minors have an easy access... But they just could flat out disable ability to upload anything from modified game into their on-line gallery. I know that this would be a pain in the a*s for builders (on YT and so on) and other content creators.

I don't believe that EA, even if said precautions was implemented, would develop and release modding tools. Just looks at their last stream revealing another bugged pack where even sims AI is still in shambles and they behave like zombies during the weeding.

I know that but you can never have too many ??

When I first started, I figured it would only be a few channels

But as time went on & the number of genres began to GROW, the more I realized that creating a custom cable /satellite TV system (More likely the latter as the game has satellite dishes you can place anywhere on any lot) with A SLEW of channels bundled together would be better

I also have an SFW cable /satellite system too, which I've called "Simfinity" (A play on the word XFINITY (The name of a major US cable TV provider ??)

It has ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN (Game clips I have of EA games with the ESPN branding in them), SNN (A play on the CNN branding. ,) & SSN (Another Sims Sports channel)

But if there's one thing that's BADLY needed (Especially for us console simmers) is the ability to connect to CC sites via THE GALLERY

EA can help by providing a simple "+" in the Gallery at the end of the tabs list

When a user highlights it & hits the "A" or "X" button, that would bring up a window showing ALL the CC sites (Including NSFW ones like this one ?). All that would be required would be an account with the site & the user successfully log in

Once that's done, a user would have access to EVERYTHING available for download on that CC Gallery

This would include…

✔️ Lots

✔️ Sims

✔️ Mods

✔️ Careers

✔️ Objects

AND MORE ?

I say this because we may face the fact that NEITHER Microsoft nor Sony will EVER Mods & CC to be installed DIRECTLY on the console

And EA strips away CC from ITS OWN Gallery but they have to do that to maintain the game's rating & to avoid losing half its customer base but CC Galleries DO NOT have to do that as simmers would have a choice as to whether they want to use those Galleries or not

Am I insane to think this is possible?? ?‍♀️

Certainly nobody aimed at doing this extended version of custom channels ? There are some mods containing porno, but nothing remotely extensive like this.

I mentioned them just because some of the creator already used external ts4scripts and mods to either implements their work (e.g for custom icons for TV option wheel or to convert movie formats like .avi or .mp4 into package) so you might find answer there.

There is always a solution and what you envisioned here is one of them, possibly even quite easy to implement, but I don't expect anything from EA. As I said they're about to release yet another buggy expansion pack without addressing core issues like AI or economy balance which simmers where b*tching about for about almost a decade or at least since dreaded launch of The Sims 4 (which just to remind or tell people who didn't bought it day one it didn't have any cheats, gallery wasn't working and game was a bare-bone without basic things like pools...). Moreover they failed to release Create a world tools which will be finally provided by Twisted Mexi.

Dunno... I'm so disappointed by Sims 4 overall and EA blatant lies, neglect of the franchise and treating like a hen laying golden eggs so when I see new gameplay from Paralives I'm just overexcited by simple things like... resizeable furniture including mirror and lighting without glitches and lighting bugs lol.

We know EA tries to avoid custom content breaking when they release patches. Only Turbodriver or TwistedMexi or one of their caliber can confirm whether EA actually coordinate with them or not. I'm not holding my breath waiting for them to comment though. If EA does have contact with some of the more adult modders, I'm sure one of the conditions is them keeping strictly silent about it. One thing is having LilSimsie or James Turner making lots or Harrie making furniture, publicly acknowledging the work of Turbo and Twisted would be a whole different thing.

FIRST - It's not possible for an MP4 video to play in game (It MUST be converted to 144p AVI video @ 15 fps.)

SECONDLY - Even EA knows we console simmers simply cannot compete with PC simmers in MANY areas of gameplay without SOME kind of CC & Mod access

To fix this - EA is going to have to do ONE of two things

✔️ TOTALLY BAN ALL FORMS of Mods & CC FOR EVERYONE (Not likely to happen unless they want to lose PC simmers (Which also happen to be among some of THE MOST POPULAR streamers on Twitch & have GAINED PARTNERSHIP because of their sims gameplay) & console simmers will NOT ONLY not be able to make up the loss of revenue but WILL LIKELY TO JOIN PC SIMMERS in their boycott of the game if EA makes this DRACONIAN move (Which would also not be a very good BUSINESS move)

✔️ Wotk with CC sites to come up with a way to add additional Galleries that doesn't increase their legal liability & can be done on ALL platforms (IE - In a way that will make Microsoft & Sony happy)  ** A MUCH MORE LOGICAL STEP **

Never said that they do this intentionally. They surely release their own content bugged and are doing bare minimum to fix it after ward. I use at least 10GB of mods just to fix careers (For example, a restaurant owner which was completely bugged since update. All sims I do hire as a chef stand in front of restaurant and I need to manually debug them to make them work at cooking station. Package from Carl fixes that.)  and sims behaviours.

I'm certain that you can plot a lot built with T.O.O.L without having it even installed on your system so EA definitely doesn't goes out of their way to block mods manipulating current objects in game.

Even they introduced the SGX system to avoid obvious conflicts by simply introducing new items without a need to patch entire game.

The more you know :) I never attempted to put any video files into the game. I have use my own custom furniture and mod for custom crafting recipes.

EA never excluded or prohibited using custom content in their partnership agreement, they're even fine using some mature mods as long as the censorship of private parts is turned on.

Regarding second step. Recently Sony is coming hard with extremely biased censorship in games on their platform (either their own IPs or 3rd party) so I'm not so certain that they would have agree to deal like that.

You can't go higher than 144p (This is according to The Sims Wiki https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Game_guide:Making_your_own_custom_TV_channels

Likewise, you can't go higher than 15 fps. either

There no limitation to 144 pixels, in is sample they just talk about converting a sample video of 256x144 Pixel. But they do not say you cannot have bigger video. Just that the width/height have to be multiple of 32/16.

So you can just debug them to get them to go to the chefs station? Cool, now my sims can enjoy asking people out on dinners again! I'll go test at once!

I don't know what you're reading but it's VERY CLEAR to me

✔️ 144p AVI

✔️ MPEG-4 Codec

✔️ 15 fps.

There aren't ANY exceptions

What's NOT clear is the TIME LENGTH of the videos to make them sims friendly

For THIS, I use the following as my rule of thumb…

✔️ Auto Duration for ANYTHING in the 1 to 14 minute range

✔️ 15 seconds for ANYTHING in the 15 to 29 minute range

✔️30 seconds for ANYTHING in the 30 to 45 minute range (Split in two if needed with a video splitting app with each part made into a sims friendly version & joined together with a video joiner app)

✔️ 45 seconds for ANYTHING 31 minutes or longer Split into multiple parts with a video splitting app with each part made into a sims friendly version & joined together with a video joiner app)

Of course, this doesn't always work out but with porn videos, it doesn't really matter as you're about to see in these two  examples

One is a  RL porn clip that's 26 secomds long  (Out of a total length of 2 minutes & 26 seconds)  & the other is a clip of one of my Wicked Whims videos that's 40 seconds in length (Out of a total length of 20 minutes & 26 seconds)

You are ABSOLUTELY 100% WRONG!
@Gambit said it right, 256x144 is just an example; the video resolution can be anything that is divisible by 32/16, the engine doesn't care. (I'd say you should aim for a 16:9 ratio, and it's somewhat pointless to go over 768x432, but it's certainly possible as I myself have videos encoded at 1280x720). It's also advisable to use the same size for videos playing on the same channel, so switching from one to another on continuous playback are smoother, but even that is just a recommendation.

As with the frame-rate - based on my past experimenting - it could be technically anything, 15-24-30-60-whatever, but high framerates make the video files too big due to the inefficiency of the now ancient VP6 codec that has to be used, and videos at 15fps seems to be the sweet spot as both being okay to watch, while also keeping things at a somewhat managable file size (it's what Maxis also uses for all their in-game videos)... though the engine is not as permissible in this case as it is with different video sizes, so videos playing on the same channel playlist all have to be at the same framerate. (this rule also applies to the audio as well, they have to use the same sample rate and mono/stereo settings)

No set rule here, theoretically, you can make whatever, encode Ben Hur if you wish, but it's basically pointless for a video to go over 1.5-2 minutes (3-4 if you're really want to push it), as sims will simply get bored and turn off the tv anyways.

The only thing is, if you're replacing in-game movies, then you also have to modify the related interaction tuning xml file as well, as those contain the runtime of the video, so sim's will turn off the TV as soon as that set time is up.

If I'm wrong, then so is the Wiki

As for the time length, you're right  There is no set rule

The rule of thumb I basically follow is that A COMPLETE SIMS DAY (And I've had this verified by other simmers) takes about 42 minutes in RL time

In porn videos, I try to use the RL rule that HUMAN males having a hard on for 4 straight hours is unhealthy

AS SUCH (And WITH THIS IN MIND) I try to keep the videos UNDER 4 hours in length in SIMS time (Roughly 6 minutes in REAL time)

Since nearly 99% of all fuck scenes aren't going to last 4 hours (In EITHER Real time OR Sims time), I use my judgement according to the time length of the source video I have & decide from there whether I want to shrink it or not

If it's the long form of the Paris Hilton sex tape, naturally I'm going to shrink it (In fact I did as it's one of the videos I've included in my mod ?)
