Clangeddon Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Hey all - does anyone know of a method to slow down the display text from mods as it appears? Both in the upper left and subtext dialogue area...sometimes it flies past in a blink-and-you-miss it speed, so looking for how I might slow it down a bit. Thanks!
ttts1 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Are you using Fus Do Rah? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/15109 I'm not sure about any setting to change text speed. Maybe something like BethINI has a setting for the INI files? I'm just not sure.

I totally glossed over that part about text speed...I'll give that a shot! thanks! *Update* Tried dropping in Duration=9 to the skse.ini file and it doesn't seem to do anything. It could be syntax (definitely not my forte) since Fus itself has this for the entry: Duration = (Word Count / Words per Second) + 1, at a maximum of 10 seconds. So probably user error.
ttts1 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 well, it was worth a shot. I had a recent issue where subtitles where not appearing. I fixed it by going in the game menu and setting subtitles to "off", exiting the menu, and then going back to the menu to turn them back "on". That fixed subtitles not appearing at all. Doubt that would help with fast subtitles but no reason not to try it next time you're in game. As I mentioned, I know BethINI has settings for subtitles. I've never used it, I just use the "lazy pre-download ini" (its name is something like that). But I've seen some posts where a few peope said using BethINI and changing the subtitle options fixed an issue with them. I don't know what options it has, when I looked at the INI file to try and see what was in there I mostly saw the range at which NPC text is picked up for subtitles. But made actually using the INI setup has some options that may help? I don't know. Hopefully someone can give you a better answer. I suspect maybe some mod affected the INI settings, but I'm no expert in that stuff.
ttts1 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Another question: is this happening everytime dialogue subtitles and game notifications are appear? Or only sometimes? Do you notice a theme of what's going on when it happens? A particular location or type of NPC you're around or interacting with? FYI - this probably should have been in the Technical Support forum. I suspect you have an accidental overwrite of something. But maybe I'm wrong.

But maybe I'm wrong. well I dropped it here because I was more looking for a mod that might have addressed it -- like the lazy ini tweak (I've got the same). So you're probably right in that something in the list of mods overwrote things...I *think* the text that goes by really fast is babo, so will probably check through the .ini // .json files there and see if there's a timing command. Thanks!
ttts1 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 if it's happening in one particular set of dialogue that's obviously a good place to start. Any any other mod in your mod list that interacts with it. You can try and turn off Babo and see if anything happens, but maybe its already within the save. If you can't fix it, you may want to repost in the tech support thread for more help.
venomr Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 This mod lets you increase the amount of messages that can appear in the upper corner and also how long they remain displayed.
