VR script extender causes game to crash

I'm about to start tearing out my hair and don't have a lot of that left to lose, so...a little help please?

I'm new at modding, you might have to use small words.

So I've done some basic modding before, mostly regular quest mods and the like.  But when I started getting into the mods here I was told I needed a script extender.  I'm using Skyrim VR, so I went and poked around and downloaded the VR script extender.

Now...here's where I'm confused.  I figured that since it was basically another mod that I should put it on my vortex mod manager and enable it.  LOOT now tells me that I have a script extender enabled and it's up to date.  Great!  But the moment I try to load up skyrim with it, I go through the loading screen and then I just get a black screen with a few sound effects.  Nothing else.  I've disabled all other mods and tried just enabling that one.  Same problem.  Loading screen, then black screen, nothing else.  It just sits there.

So am I doing this wrong?  I know this is probably a stupid question, but is there another way to use this mod?  Or is there a patch that's required to make the script extender work for VR?  I checked and made sure I was using the VR script extender and I am.

Appreciate any help!

Edit: Okay I figured out what the problem was, I didn't know how to use script extender.  I've found two different sets of instructions for how to set it up but nothing seems to work.

Can someone please walk me through how to set up script extender for VR?  I tried a set of instructions but it doesn't seem to work.  I must be doing something wrong but I don't know what.  Can someone please walk me through setting this up?

Sorry, I forgot to edit this.

I figured it out at about 3 am this morning having woken up because I couldn't sleep.  Apparently I have 2 Skyrim VR directories for some reason and put the files in the wrong directory.  I appreciate your help though, thank you for taking the time to reply.
