ladera Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Well, I'm in the market for a video card and i was wondering if you lovers would help c; Â So I was looking at the specs for the GTX 660 and 670 and can't decide which one is better. I mainly want a new card for HD texture modding on Skyrim and to start making YouTube videos, recording games in general. i wanna budget AT LEAST $400 ($450 depending on tax and shipping.) So if you guys can give me feedback, please do! also, if you have one of these cards, upload screenshots so i can see how nice they look or tell me your in game fps!!!
anubis Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Check this for theorical benchmarks  GTX 660 vs GTX 670.  My opinion, go with GTX 660 (if you want GTX 660 TI then you should go with GTX 670). should enough for modded skyrim, was saving money for that since i fried my GTX 260. Video recording usually stress the CPU more than graphic, so if you already have a good CPU and at least 4 Gig of memory would be enough to recording any gameplay video.  Â

RitualClarity Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I have the GTX670 and I love my card... no this isn't to tell you to get the 670. I got it because I wanted to have extra power than was really needed. Like you I was thinking of the 660 670 and 680. the 680 was too much for the gain. The 660 was a little lower on the specs for my taste. I plan on using this card for a couple of years and also have triple HD monitors. Also at that time I had the money for it. If I hadn't I would of gotten the 660ti. Â The question is can you get a good price on a 660ti? If so many of my RL friends love that card. It is a little in all the right places...
none1980 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Or you could wait for the 760 (the 770 and 780 are already out), which is rumored to be out by July and get 670 performance for around the same price as a 660.Â

lordofthedread Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Still it may be so that the 660TI is superior as the regular 760, watch closely for reviews before buying as both Nvidia and AMD are keen to rebrand old models to a newer generation.

That's EXACTLY what's happening with the 700 series. The 780 is basically a cut down Titan (so technically the only "new" card) and the 770 is an overclocked 680. So far the word on the street is that the 760 will be a rebranded 670, but it's hard to say right now without official specs. It could very well be just a 660Ti. It seems unlikely that it would just be a rebranded 660, though. While it has happened before, it just wouldn't make sense right now, plus, the other cards thus far have been improvements, not sidegrades.
lordofthedread Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Always look for detailed reviews on graphic cards, always use a graphic card with GDDR5 memory. Â I personally use this website but it in french (might worth a shot with a translator) they make very good reviews on hardware and they are very serious :Â http://www.hardware.fr
Time Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 the 'power edition' of the 660 is very good for clocking. I'm getting a good deal more out of my MSI GTX660ti Power Edition than you would a vanilla one.
