Neutral427 Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 question 1: does the male body in oblivion use the same skeleton (e.g. corronera's maximum compatibility skeleton) as the female body? question 2: it tried to import an .nif mesh (a dmra clothing) into blender. the error 'Python script error: check console' kept coming up. does that mean i have to install a newer version of blender? or is there an alternative way to work around this? (p.s. i use blender 2.49b & python 2.6.X)
GKM Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 answer 1: 90% sure yes answer 2: Make sure you're using the right version of blender, the newest version of niftools doesn't support Oblivion, this version (I use it) is pretty popular since it bundles blender + niftools in one handy package AND doesn't require you to install anything (so you can use it with new Blender installed as well if you have non-oblivion animating/modelling you want to do) If that's not the problem, post what it says in the console; otherwise, it's pretty hard to say what's wrong. I've gotten "error in console" when the armatures weren't attached property (the ghost of 1 skeleton was still in the file, I deleted it and re-imported the skeleton from the nif, and it was fine).
gregathit Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Males and females use the exact same skeleton. You want to be using Growlf's Universal Skeleton (the controllable version). Corroneras is old and not the best skelly to be using anymore. Make sure you are using blender portable as it contains the latest working nifscript import\export scripts at the link that GKM gives above. If you still can't import the nif file then that mesh may be broken.
Neutral427 Posted June 8, 2013 Author Posted June 8, 2013 thanks! i got blender to work properly again
