Hi,
Is there anyone out there who knows about agoog guide on how to change what bodypart is used by a armor part?
I got this nice chastity belt but it came with it's own body and uses 32. I have removed the body in NIFskope but I need to somehow change the used body part to 49 to have the belt work properly.
From what I understand I need to use Blender but i have no experience whatever from Blender.

Use nifskope on the meshes

Click on NiTriShape, if it has a BSDismemberSkinInstance, right-click on it, Block -> Convert, select NiS -> NiSkinInstance.

Do this for both weight meshes (_0 and _1).  Save them.

Use CK or xEdit on the esp

Find the Armor record, change the Body Slot to 49 and unselect any other body slot numbers that may be present.

Find the Armor Addon record, change the Body Slot to 49 and unselect any other body slot numbers that may be present.

Save the altered esp.

Thanks for posting this, but there is one issue that I've never been able to figure out or find a guide for, and it's exactly the issue that the OP is posting about.  For any other slot change, the directions work fine.  But these instructions are missing a step(s) if the item being changed is starting out as slot 32, because the slot 32 nif files generally all include the body.  What that causes is that the newly changed item, let's say from slot 32 to 49, when equipped in game causes the body to disappear.  You can still see head, hands and feet, but no torso.  Changing the item back to slot 32 returns it to normal.  (Edit: I think this is also a similar problem but in reverse when changing an item TO slot 32 if I am recalling correctly, it won't work that way unless you can figure out how to put the body into the nif)

So the question is, what step(s) is missing?  Is it simply a matter of knowing how to delete the included body from the nif file?  If so, are there any directions on how to do that?  Or is it just a matter of running bodyslide again (I'm pretty sure I tried that before and it didn't resolve it)?

I've changed slots on a few things before, and had gotten pretty good at it, but those darn slot 32 items elude me.

The OP indicated that they removed the body in nifskope, so I listed the three remaining steps.  What you describe is what happens when one of those (4 total) steps is skipped.

Switching something from 49 to 32 would require adding the body, and you would not want to use NiSkinInstance for that slot.  The skin partitions would need to be present under BSDismemberSkinInstance (if you are copying a functioning body into the mesh, it will already have that).

I've been working on a blog post about this, since it comes up so frequently and half the answers on it are flat incorrect.  I guess I'll put some more time into that.

Hey thanks, my brain completely skipped over the part where they said they already removed the body. That would be very cool if you get a chance to document that into your blog, I had searched a few times for the answer and I guess I didn't pray to google hard enough :)

Sorry for the late reply, I havn´t had time to test this until now.

And it worked great ?. Thank you so much ?.

I might add that the belt in question had multiple NiTriShapes and i followed your directions for all of them.

Allso, i will certainly save the link to your blog.

Again, thank you.
