astor Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Longstory short, I found a plugin for nifskope, but i cannot find instructions on where to put the thing. Here's what I'm trying to work on: I installed the mod from here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/15783-3d-pubic-hair-for-t6m/?p=409928. I'm trying to change the hair color. An eventual search lead me to a "gimp" program and a dds plugin for it; but dropping the .dds files into gimp is useless atm, all i see is a grid of little black and gray squares.
kingkong Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 you need to install the plugin files into your GIMP plugins directory. This directory is usually located at:C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins$ orC:\Program Files(x86)\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-insor where is your GIMP directory\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins
astor Posted June 4, 2013 Author Posted June 4, 2013 I have the gimp dds plugin there, so i can open the files i linked above, but it just displays them as a nice grid of gray and black squares. I downloaded a nifskope plugin, but there is no indication of where in the nifskope install folder to put it. The more i dig into this project the higher over my head it becomes. I tried blender, but it won't open .nif or .dds files, so not sure why nifskope or gimp ( really can't recall which one) directed me to get it.
kingkong Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 you mean you have a plugin from niftools like 3dsmax-nif plugin should be : C:\Program Files\3dsmax\include and C:\Program Files\3dsmax\lib or blender nifscripts should be : C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender and it is normal for blender not to open nif files you need to export with the nif file the meshe as .obj meshe.obj and open blender and import the meshe.obj work on it with a plugin installed and export when finished (more reading !!!) http://www.loverslab.com/topic/17421-blender-263-tutorial-more-in-depth-uvmapping/ import / export with nif plugin open / close .obj
