How to stop my followers picking up staves

Being using EFF for a long time now and love it to bits, but one thing I notice is that there is no way to make followers to not pick up stuff. Staves is the main issue since they do such little damage and not denting the enemies at all, all it does is create a bunch of loud noises and nothing else. I looked online but there doesn't seem to be an answer for it and those people are asking for everything not picking up but I just don't want them using staves since they're so crap and useless.

If memory serves me right I think it can be changed via combat style (equipment scores - staff) it might have a value of 1.00 or 1.50. I wouldn't modify the existing records though, if you have a custom follower or using vanilla follower you can probably find out which combat style they're using and then copy as override into new patch (both npc record and combat style and then lower the equipment score on new record value to say 0.20). Don't forget to reference your new combat style in your npc record you copied across.
