Katya8848 Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Thanks for all your help so far. I decided to start again and go for a fresh new set up. The biggest problem I had was that all the animation had gone. Every character was in a static A pose. Therefore - I disabled all the mods. Uninstalled game. Re-installed (on a different drive!!). Left all the mods switched off. Started game normally via a shortcut ... ARGHH!! - Still no animation??? This was for an un-modded game save just after the dragon turns up in Helgin (so i didn't have to wait the cart-ride scene) Please, please - anyone got any ideas??? Big thanks
Gukahn Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Yes and i can't stress this enough: more information. Simply telling us the rough problem and asking if we have any idea doesn't help. Did you run fnis after uninstall everything, did you nuke the game completely and started on a fresh install? If you run FNIS, what did the log say? From my experience this kind of thing only happens if you either; forgot to run FNIS, have wrong mods for your skyrim version or overwritten your Skeleton with things it shouldn't be overwritten. I am not the most reliable person for more technical stuff but that are the first things that come to mind.
Katya8848 Posted October 2, 2021 Author Posted October 2, 2021 REALLY SORRY - For lack of information. I haven't been able tp run FNIS - because the mods were all f'ked up and Vortex wouldn't let me. However, before I uninstalled there were 2 warnings when I ran it and both were regarding conflicts with mods i didn't have so I wasn't worried about them. I have now managed to run FNIS and I have 2821 animations for 4 mods successfully included (character). HOWEVER - I have 1206 Warning(s). Generated files redirected to d:\Vortex Mods\skyrimse\FNIS Data (Default) I currently have NO mods enabled. Prior to the reinstall - I had a number of mods running. All were SE version mods. Most were working fine. It's possible the Skeleton was overwritten - it happened when I tried to add Zaz Animation Pack to mods. I thought switching off all the mods and doing a reinstall would clear it. You talk about 'nuking the game' ?? All I did was uninstall via Steam - was there something else I should have done - do I need to do that again so that I can start fresh ... properly? Sorry - not much more information, but I'm not really sure what else to add.
Gukahn Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Never ignore warnings. Never. FNIS tells you not without reason that there might be a problem. If you have so many warnings, that just means your refresh wasn't proper. Go to your Skyrim folder, the path should look somehow like this: D:\Games\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition except for you it will be skyrim and not skyrim special. Go to Data and take a quick look at the folders there. I suspect you will have many folders from mods previously downloaded. Do not just disable them, uninstall them is the propper way to get rid of them, if you are using everything other MO2 you might want to delete the folders entire to get a clean skyrim folder again, otherwise you get many empty folders, just clutter nothing to worry about. Here is a guide i found on that topic: https://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/357285562484690267/ But i never followed it and haven't nuked my game in years. So i can't give you any more infos then that.

I guess I've got a night of data deletion and re-installing !! Cheers
