Courrier Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Hi guys! Just wondering is it possible to change race without altering my character's appearance? I'm playing as a high elf-like pc who is actually a dark elf. Or is there anyway to at least make npc treat me like a high elf? Thanks a lot!
osculim Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Yes you can you can just export your head nif in racemenu change to another race and then import your head nif again. You will probably have to pick your hair and things again but that is no big deal easily done.
belegost Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 In RaceMenu navigate to "Presents", F5 to save preset, then navigate to "Sculpt", F5 to save sculpt. Change race, and (IMPORTANT STEP TO AVOID NECK SEAM!), make sure the weight slider is set to the same value as it was before race change. Navigate to "Presets" first, F9 to load preset you saved (character will probably look weird but pay no attention to it for now). Navigate to "Sculpt" second, F9 and load sculpt preset you saved, confirm changes. Done. If there is any weirdness, load "Preset" again. If you have neck/wrists seam, the body and sculpt you loaded had different weight sliders. Repeat the whole process making sure to have the same weight before and after. NOTE: some will say to load sculpt first, I found it is better to load preset first, then sculpt. Reason being that the preset will import hair, skin, eyes and any overlays you had. Sculpt only loads face structure. Doing it in that order saves you the hassle of having to select all those extra things manually. It is also worth mentioning that "Preset" only modifies sliders, so if you have seriously mismatching face geometry to begin with (e.g. loading human face to an elf and vice versa), loading sculpt then preset has a chance of making it look even weirder than usual. NOTE2: some races are not so easy, e.g. Orcs. They have their own teeth and you will have to fiddle with that even if you did everything right to make them not look like Eldritch nightmares.

Thanks so much for your detailed explanation! I successfully change my dark elf character into a high elf! The only issue is that it seems that even using the same head sculpt and preset, high elf character always has a thinner cheek than my original dark elf pc.
