Zquad1 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Hey is there a way to remove pieces of armor that is not separated, like I am trying to remove the Bra strap from the fairytale Outfit but I can't remove the branch without removing most or all the armor as well, is there a way to do this with out going through 3dsMax?
anubis Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Then make it invisible with transparency is the only way to go...but i prefer edit it with 3DMax/Blender to remove the strap, should be pretty quick, since transparency can look weird with lighting effect shader effect.
Zquad1 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 well shoot I am having issues with my 3dsmax not wanting to export it keeps telling me it has encountered an error & must shut down, does anyone have a tutorial on how to edit armor in Blender??
lostdaywalker Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 99% of the time its a weight issue. Vertices weighted to nothing/missing bones. Collapse it, export it, import it and re weight it. As to the original question, without a 3d editor, only choice is with alpha channel to hide it.
Zquad1 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 gimmie a couple min, shouldn't be a problem whats on yur mind?
Bootaka Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 ok might be a problem? I don't have the High Heels thing to test it. I have the _1 size done, wanna try it out? send me a pm?
Zquad1 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 the funny thing is, is when I try to erase the texture for the strap It seems to still show up when in game, & I mean the texture, I would a thought if anything it would either show the purple mesh or become invisible. but I guessed wrong..
Bootaka Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 did you remove it from the _n.dds as well? And did you add NiAlphaProperty and adjust them? <--tells the mesh what is transparent and how much
Zquad1 Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 I did erase the texture from the _n.dds, & that didn't work plus in NifSKope I have no idea what to add & where to add it.
Bootaka Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/492806-transparent-textures/ few posts down here's a blender tutorial http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/5639-creating-skyrim-armor-in-blender-tutorial-series/
anubis Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 the funny thing is, is when I try to erase the texture for the strap It seems to still show up when in game, & I mean the texture, I would a thought if anything it would either show the purple mesh or become invisible. but I guessed wrong.. You dont erase the texture, you only need to add an alpha channel for the normal map ( _n.dds).. take that you loaded the normal into photoshop. then go to channels where you can see 4 section (-RGB-Red-Green-Blue) usually there is already an alpha (mostly are main texture with darker look). how to create an alpha ? in main texture just add more layer then colour it plain black, reduce the opacity so you can see the main texture, then slowly paint with white colour to certain area where the straps use it. after you done simply block all then copy it, back to your normal map, replace the alpha by paste it.
lostdaywalker Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Here you go. Removed it with anAalpha Chanel. Just replace with these 3 files. FT.7z
kingkong Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 if i can say normaly you export with nif as export.OBJ and than you import with 3dmax /blender you can do it with nifskop but you might kill yourself after because the result is not garantied you need to erase (put a 0 value for three positionning) triangles in NiTriShapeData after removing unused vertices make a new NiSkinPartition. than you pray that the triangles reordered correctly (if not you need to export that meche to delete the skeleton and attach a new lostdaywalker has the best solution if you have 3dmax / blender probleme
Zquad1 Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 I guess I am dumber then then all hell, I for the life of me can't figure this shit out, I guess it might be because I don't happen to have Photo shop, all I have is Gimp 2 & Paint.net. I can't find anything regarding Alpha Channels, but in Gimp under colors I see "color to Alpha" but I am unsure how to employ it. Thanks for the upload I do so appreciate it sooo very much, But I also really, really want to figure this out, so I can employ what I have learned to other armors, you know just a thought perhaps you guys could upload a visual , I guess my understanding of text seems to fail me... if not I will understand. & I do so thank all of you for helping me. I FIGURED IT OUT yee haa
Zquad1 Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 OK guys here is how figured it out. 1. load up the .nif you want to edit in NifSKope 2. left click the first NiTriShape in the list to select it. 3. Right click the first NiTriShape in the list. a drop down window will appear, select Node, Attach Property. 4. Another Drop down Window will appear, now select "NiAplhaProperty" 5. Under the first NiTriShape Left click to select it. 6. right click a drop down window will appear, select Flags. 7. A drop down window will appear. un-check mark Enable Blending, check mark "enable Testing", Under "Alpha Test Function" select Greater or equal Under "Alpha test Threshold" type 128, Now click "Accept" 8. Now Save the file where you would like it. 9. Load up the .dds texture you want to edit in your preferred paint program. I prefer Paint.net 10. once your .dds texture is loaded up click "tools" 11. now you can either use a selection tool or you can just use the Erase tool & just erase the parts of the texture you want to not show up in game. 12. Click Save As, now locate where you want to save the texture, {make sure "Save As Type" says .DDS} & click Save. 13. Save Configuration window will popup & Under Settings select DXT5 (interpolated Alpha) from the drop down & click "OK" Now the armor should no longer show the pieces you wanted to hide.
