Hey! Let me present you another creation for The Sims 4:

 

 

Picture Stories

Did you ever think about we have painting descriptions in the build mode but sims aren't able to read them in the live mode? I always lacked such a function, I have many painting replacements and I can write any creative description for them but my sims couldn't know these descriptions, I could only see them while in the build mode and that really sucks.

I've wanted to make paintings more meaningful for a long time, so that any of them could have its own story that sims could remember and now they can.

This mod adds additional interactions for buyable paintings, photos and easel paintings that allow you to name them and give them their own stories (descriptions) and these stories are shown as notifications when sims remember them.

The maximum story length is limited to 2000 characters. Sims get +2 inspired custom buff for 3 hours after they remember stories.

Picture Stories interactions may be unavailable for some of buyable paintings that use their own specific tuning resources. For example the mod works for Spooky Stuff DLC paintings because I added their support on purpose but it doesn't work for specific paintings from Paranormal Stuff because I didn't do that for them.

How it works

Everything is very simple. If you click on any photo or buyable painting (except some special paintings), you can use 'Picture Story' option to give it a name and tell its story. After that any sim from teen to adult can remember that story using the 'Remember Picture (Photography) Story' option. I didn't allow this interaction for children just because it can often be illogical.
Once the name of a picture is set, you can change it as well as picture story using 'Rename' option. Untitled objects continue with 'Picture Story' option even if they have stories.
Thus, when you create quite a lot of stories, of course you can't remember them all with all of details, so It is quite fascinating to read them later while visiting different households, this can give the game some storytelling tone if you want that.

yeah i went ahead and did that, the payment still went thru luckily, i just cant access the content until they get back to me

I disabled it for children vice versa to prevent them know some dirty stories the mod can be used for. I understand that it can be pretty common photo but I can't allow or disallow interactions depending on what is depicted in it so it's a double edged sword.

Hello; I'm not sure if you're saying that you disabled this feature so as to prevent child p0rn0grapy stories from being created. If you did disable it, good, because there are rumors that child p0rn0graphy is present.

It's not about child porn, I disabled the 'Remember Picture Story' interaction for children because sims physically perform this action and since this may be some adult story, I didn't want that interaction to be available for children.

Patreon update

• Updated notifications, now they have both title and text in any case, even when picture name or picture story is missing.
• Notification titles now use the default text format.
• Added custom inspired buff instead of the default one, the reason of the buff differs depending on the object type (picture or photography).
• Made the buff doesn't show up if the story is missing.
• Added a fix of an old EA bug where you can't change the photo frame to black.

I am Unable to add Stories to photos that my sim has taken. I suspect that it has something to do with the Functional Frame Mod since I am able to add it to those frames but not the photos themselves

I can't see that frames mod conflicts with PS but you can easily test this by temporarily removing it.

Your right, still not sure what it is that is causing the problem, going thru some "Frames" kind of mod. But I am unsure at all as what kind of mod would interfere and cause this promlem

Edit: Removed all mods and still can't add stories to photos.

Are you sure? It shouldn't be so. Try to remove localthumbnailcache.package after removing mods, just in case.

Found the problem, First is that I had an old version of the mod. Two, Ksushi's AEP Pornography's Mod disabled this mod to work on photos, not usre if it's all of their mods or just this specific mod.
Okay not the only problem, will continue to look

I can't see that AEP Pornography conflicts either but I'm glad you got the mod working. And here is the update for better experience.

Honesty I'm at this moment just moving Mods back in groups, rather than 1 by 1, Eventually I'll get everything working. And Thanks, already changed the mod to the newest version

Edit: I think I found the only problem, Mod from LittleMsSam, PhotosInStorage
