Virtamate (VAM)

Recommended Posts

Hi I am wondering why there is almost no content for virtamate on this forum is there a policy against it?

There used to be a successful sharing thread on f95 but they closed it down probably because it was too successful.

Is it allowed to start a sharing thread here for virtamate content? It would bring a lot of new users to this forum.

There is a policy against piracy, also by Virtamate's own website:

License Grant. This agreement grants you a nonexclusive, nonsublicensable, nontransferable, limited license to use the Website and the Materials for your personal, noncommercial use only. You must not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, republish, download, store, or transmit any of the Materials on the Website, except as follows:

(none of them allow posting of content from their program to another website).

In other words, their rules seem to be a bit unfriendly to use of their content outside of their website (derivative works are pretty much all game mods), though there has been several discussions here and elsewhere on what that means.    In my opinion, that perceived unfriendliness probably hurts it more than helps, as only die hard fans will create mods for it.

Also, there is a utility that scans var files for license issues. for Virtamate, though this is likely to keep their website safe from CP claims.

While I am not a moderator, I think that you can post stuff and see what happens, but I think there just isn't a big demand signal for those mods.
