Hello,

I have played Skyrim for quite awhile, but I have never used mods. I would like for anyone who would like to share their recommendations to list a few of their favorite non nsfw mods and a few nsfw mods. Thanks.

What mods you place in your game will depend entirely on what kind of game you want.

We have all selected from thousands of available mods to create the game we want.

for example: Companions (could be contingent on the sex of the player ..... or not)

  • marriageable or not
  • armoured, or special outfit (maybe vanilla ?)
  • body type (several mods)
  • skills: fighter or lover
  • number of companions as followers

just to name a few things.

Think about what you want your game to be, once you are clear in your mind what you want, then ask for suggestion.

Big question on that is what are you into?  Like I personally like mods that add more magic and enchantment since I almost always play some form of mage, but there's plenty of people that couldn't care less about the magic side of the game, you know?

First off make sure you're following install processes right.  Grab a mod manager of some kind, I think Mod Organizer is pretty darn popular, and is a safe way to add and remove mods without causing problems with leftover files or things getting overwritten when you don't want them to.  You'll probably find most people around here use it.

In terms of just general things, most people find a preferred body replacer to use, and which one you like will probably be determined by what clothing and armor mods you want to use that only support one or the other.  Either way, you'll probably end up playing with bodyslide to customize character proportions and Racemenu to give you more options for making that perfect face.  There's a lot of mods that improve the look of the game, HD textures and prettier ambient plants and things, but some of those can be pretty demanding on older machines.  Unfortunately without info on how powerful your pc is and exactly what kind of content you want to change in your game, there's not a lot of recommendations that can just be universally made.

Also, are you using Special Edition?  Not all mods have a version that exists for both LE and SE, and the ones that do don't always have especially reliable ports to the version they weren't built for.

Now in terms of actual recommendations, I like Apocalypse, it's a fun magic expansion that just adds a bunch of different ways to play with your spells.  Wintermyst expands enchantments, but it uses a bunch of scripts, which some people prefer to avoid for stability reasons.  I always found skyrim's jewelry to be lackluster and not very diverse so I also use Immersive Jewelry.  Large sized download, but really pretty stuff to fill out your treasure chests.  It does add weight to your money, though, so if you don't want that you'll have to install another file that removes gold weight.

There's immersive armor and immersive weapons as well, they add a whole bunch of cool weapons and armors to the game, also large file sizes.

Alternate Start-Live Another Life is practically universal just for the convenience of skipping skyrim's fairly lengthy opening if nothing else, but the creator has left the Nexus following the controversy with changes to how files are stored and not deleted anymore if an author wants to take their stuff down.  It's hosted elsewhere now, but I don't remember the site off the top of my head.  A google search will probably turn it up easy.  Actually you might have to hunt around a little to find a reasonable amount of popular mods, that change pissed off a good few modders.

I also like Timing Is Everything.  It lets you assign at what point in the game certain things happen or even turn them off entirely, like the Ebony Warrior event, Meridia's beacon appearing, stuff like that.  I use it purely to turn off the vampire attacks that can occur in cities after about level 10, because I don't like that I can walk into town and all the merchants get slaughtered trying to fight a vampire master and his goons with an iron dagger as they walk out of the tavern.

Beyond that it's largely just things to support other mods or make tweaks here and there.  If you want an idea of what's available, look over Nexus' top files or mods of the month, plenty of good stuff there.  For NSFW mods, you just need to browse what's available here on Loverslab, I don't think there's a more comprehensive or cosmopolitan collection of adult mods anywhere else.  Under the sexlab download section there's a pinned topic that indexes a bunch of the mods available by category for easy browsing, though there's plenty of other things that aren't listed and you just need to search through the topics for.  It really does all come down to what you like more than anything else.
