JxD Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I want to install new locations that expand commonwealth beyond its border.
izzyknows Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 Yes it is. If you're making a mod, just remember there's not any navmesh outside the world border, so you'll have to navmesh it so NPC's will be able to travel there.

I am planning to install Halfway Rock Lighthouse by an amazing modder Zorkaz. Fallout 4 is very risky to mod as there is a high chance of breaking things like precombines etc so best to be safe.

Globally breaking precombines is a bad idea, but you can break them in certain areas and in some it can actually increase performance. In most settlements you wont even notice a performance difference.

Now if you want to expand the vanilla world space (aka the Commonwealth) you need to turn off the world borders in your Fallout4.ini. bBorderRegionsEnabled=0 But that would pretty much be for personal use, since if you wanted to release it you'd have to have instructions on how to turn off world borders. That's why nobody does that. (that I know of) Very simply... mods that add world spaces/new lands... Are exterior cells that have noting to do with the vanilla cells. They are completely separate and are accessed via a door, be it an invisible auto load door or a rendered door. When you delete the mod the world space it adds is gone. Now, the fastest way to pork your game is to uninstall mods that have scripts mid play through. A good habit to get into is to make a hard save before installing a "that looks niffty" mod. So if it goes south you simply uninstall it and load your hard save. To make a "hard save" (the game wont overwrite or delete it) open the console and type save TheNameOfYourSave
