Psyckosama Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I'd like to say now I don't really know the guts of modding. I did some stuff back in the day for v16 but it's changed so much since then that I'm basically out of my league here so I'm putting this up to give you guys some ideas. My concept is right now Misogyny and Misandry as ideological precepts are absolutely toothless. They don't really enable anything you can't do with just choosing options outside of disabling leadership options. I think they need sharper teeth and here's how I'd suggest we do it. If you like it, please, feel free to take full credit. Consent This is who chooses who becomes lovers and who get married. Full - Standard rimworld option. One party asks, the other party is can say yes or no freely. Gendered Male/Female - Bound to Misogyny and Misandry respectively, under the perceps the dominate gender chooses and the other must automatically accept. If they do not want to become lovers/marry them, they receive a mood penalty for being forced into a relationship. Arranged Leader/Moral Guide - No one chooses who they marry. It's the Moral Guide or Leader who chooses who will mate with whom for the good of the colony and to hell with personal feelings. This might make take some programing but would be interesting. Combined with Rimjobworld's fertility mechanics, you could arrange for ideal breeding or simply use a hero option to go shipping. Would probably only be available to collectivist colonies. Slavery Male Permitted - Misandrist colonies will allow slavery but only if the slaves are male. Female Permitted - Misogynist colonies will allow slavery but only if the slaves are female. Male Required - Misandrist colonies will suffer a mood penalty if they have any male colonists who are not slaves. Female Required Misogynist colonies will suffer a mood penalty if they have any male colonists who are not slaves. It might be a good idea to depending on the precept give slaves belonging to the ideology a Suppression bonus, or even a mood bonus for 'being in their proper role'. maybe even a 15% work-speed bonus to make up for being slaves. This could be separated into a Slave Treatment option or something. Tasks Allow for various tasks to be enabled disabled based on social and gender rolls. this might need to be worked out a bit. Disabled. - This role is simply disabled. For example, in a Misogynist colony females may be permitted from doing violence, or men from cleaning and cooking. If the pawn has a passion in that action, they might have a mood penalty for not being permitted to do what they love. Desperation: While not disabled outright, doing something outside your gender role is frowned upon. Characters receive and XP and/or mood penalty when doing tasks that are frowned upon for thier gender. Favored - This is seen as their rightful role. Characters who are doing work that is considered suitable for their gender role might get an XP and Mood bonus. Forced. - You're not avoiding your social roll. These tasks are forcefully enabled and characters who'd normally have it disabled receive a moon penalty for being forced to work outside their nature. This is being presented as food for thought. Right now those two precepts are basically pointless and need to be made relevant somehow. This is my thoughts on the matter. If you like it, great, if you don't, oh well, if you have your own idea and takes or think you can think of better... have at ye!
Glaurung26 Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 Hm, definitely would have some tools to RP a full Amazonian style colony. Or an old-world ultra-con patriarchy one. Just don't tell anyone lol.
Guest Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I hope you can make this work, because they are good ideas. In the game. not in real life.
Algene Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 That honestly sound pretty nice, and in the end is accurate to a lot of cultures, I especially like the slavery options. 1 hour ago, dovahnurse said: I hope you can make this work, because they are good ideas. Olivia Maregard Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 A lot of the game design here is good. Presuming that this is for RJW, this might be difficult to implement. You might want to read the code from Sexperience (which adds memes regarding zoophilia and lewdness+related precepts) and C0ffee's RJW Ideology Addons (which adds precepts limiting who colonists can bang with custom roles for lactation content and rituals for orgies). Though these ideas could also be integrated into other mods, presuming the authors are receptive to the idea of course. Regarding the societal role feature, I'm not aware of a mod that has a similar functionality, since it would presumably override disabled works. The only mod I'm aware to have done that is More than capable, though I personally haven't used it.
Ears Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 From the point of view of consent, the game is not two sexes, but four. Men Women Male slaves Women slaves The existing commandments apply only to the full-fledged owners of the colony, while slaves can only be raped for now. It would be desirable to add new commandments to allow for more complex relationships. Imagine an ideology that affirms monogamy and gender equality, but allows you to have as many slave concubines as you want!
