[question/req]Dragons Dogma armors and equipment convertion

So, has anyone tried to work on this? I mean, there aren't that many items in the game, I think, but what's interesting in there is the customization level. There are at least two types of equip for most body parts, each overlaying the other [pants and leg armor AND feets. Shirts and chest armor and gloves. Headgear and a cloak/cape/mantle of sorts. Not even gonna talk about the weapons and shields.] Everything fits well together and there's hardly any clipping [depends on the type of equip, animation, and body shape]

Well, I doubt this game is at all easy to retrieve models from like Monster Hunter tri was, but was there any attempt on it?

I had thought of working on it since there are some awesome armors in DD but I couldn't find a way to rip the meshes and textures from the disc  :-/  .

The protection can be different if you use XBOX or PS3 game data. Which one did you try?

Edit: by using this tool, I was able to extract arc files from my ps3 version of Dragons Dogma DARK ARISEN. I just have no damned idea of what to do with the files. I bet some modders that already converted stuff from Capcom games could give it a go.

That's the problem then, getting the model files into .obj format and converting the textures. I couldn't find a way to convert them [there are tools, but they may be outdated] but I checked the probable files.

Counting weapons and armors/equips from DD, probably with DA stuff included in the list, the folder sizes exceeds 400mb. That's with the arc files, without it may grow past 500. Even if I could find a way to convert all that, I wouldn't be able to share this easily, as my connection is a pain and really slow. [really, REALLY slow. I'm using 3G, and the speed drops after few days of use.]

Not necessarily .obj any type of file recognizable by 3ds max or blender would do , but if you could tell me how you extracted those files from the disc I could do it myself so no need to upload at all.

MEH, i lost my post!

Anyway, trying to revive this, the tool i used is called "ARC unpacker/repacker". It usually is found around threads regarding extraction of models from games like Resident Evil 4 and 5, Devil May Cry 3 and 4... I don't remember seeing anything like monster hunter, but if all capcom games tend to use the ARC files, then we're lucky.

Anyway, I used a ps3 to dump and retrieve the arc files from the game. I have -no idea- what you'd have to do to get them from a 360 game as i don't have one. However you manage to get the arc files, upon using the ARC unpacker on it, you'll get a bunch of .MOD and .TEX files. This is where one should contact the monster hunter modders for assistance.

Well, i sent a message to Veta before replying here. He said he'd have a look. The basic info is explained here, so unless someone else can do it, you should ask him nicely.

I seriously don't know how to get past that.
