Switch Version Of This Game

Recommended Posts

I've been considering buying the Japanese (not to be confused with the Asian) Switch version of this game as I don't play Playstation and I have a Switch. The Steam version of the game is apparently not available in my region and I'm not exactly sure if my pc could run it. It can't run DO6 but it runs DOA5 with the Beach Paradise mod fine WITHOUT the shaders.

But back to the topic at hand...I want a physical copy of the game so the Switch version is what I'm considering. Is it worth it though? I understand I'll never be able to mod the game, especially since my Switch isn't hackable. I think there's an issue with getting currency in the game too since it's an import? Idk, I just want some opinions and thoughts on if getting the game for Switch is worth it, performance wise and so on, etc. Does it make use of HD feedback like say Senran Kagura Reflections?

Also, am I missing out on anything from Venus Vacation if I have the Beach Paradise mod in DOA5? From what I'm understanding, the Beach Paradise mod is basically bringing all the fan service things over from Venus Vacation to DOA5 correct? The only thing missing are the mini games, which if I really wanted to just play those I could do so on the Switch version?

Thanks for the input!

There is a demo of the switch version. It's probably worth to check out before you buy the game.
To install it you have to create a nintendo-account with the region set to japan and create a switch-profile connected to the jp-account.

I'll try making a new account but I'm not expecting much success. I just tried multiple times with Windscribe VPN to make a new Steam account to try the PC version but for whatever reason it refused to acknowledge I was in Hong Kong even though that's  where I  had my VPN set. The first  attempt put me back in the US and my second attempt landed me in Australia which didn't help either.

I'm guessing my luck will be the same with Nintendo. If I am successful with making a foreign account though, will I always need to use that account to play the game or willit be playable on my normal account?

I own the Switch version and play the DMM version, and I'd say go for the DMM version. If you really want a physical copy or want gameplay (as playing on PC you have next to no control over the characters) then go for the Switch version. But if you're here for the fanservice just get the DMM version for free and mod it if you want to step up the fanservice.

Also, I've not played Senran Kagura reflections, but the Switch version does have a rumble feature (there's an item you purchase with in-game currency, which you have to get for each girl), though it's not that great.

You don't need a vpn to create a japanese nintendo-account. You just need to set the region to japan when creating it.

You can play it with your normal account but need at least one japanese-account connected to play the game.

I was finally successful in getting the Steam version through VPN. I used Tunnel Bear and routed myself through Singapore, created a  new Steam account and it worked! I'm going to download the Switch demo next so I can compare performance differences but if I'm all good to go now with this Steam version that will be my version of choice. I'd still like a physical version though so I'll buy the Switch version to have on hand.

Quick question, do I have to always be logged into this Steam account now to play the game? I already tried logging onto  my normal Steam account but it wouldn't let me launch the game despite being in my library, I had to log back into the new one. Is there anyway to get into the game without the need for Steam at all? I imagine this is the way you have to go about it to mod right?

Did you install the game with your extra account? If yes, you should try to remove it from your library and add it with your normal account (connected to vpn).
It's an online game and needs steam. You can only modify the visual appearance of the game. Like outfits, skins, meshes, shaders, ...
There is also the DMM version. It's ahead of the steam version but is in japanese.

Ok so it seems I misunderstood what I was getting into initially. So it turns out that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet and Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation are similar yet different games entirely? Where Scarlet is more like the game was expecting with mini games and story while Venus Vacation is more so like a management game with mechanics you'd usually see in a mobile game? Am I understanding this correctly? If so, that's even better because now it seems like its two separate experiences. I'll definitely be purchasing the Switch version of Scarlet now. Call me crazy but while I love the fan service and nudity I'm actually interested in game play and story too as it relates to the overall DOA lore.

I was able to change the region on my main Nintendo account and download the free version from the Japanese E-shop. The game only let's me play as Kasumi with me needing to purchase the remaining girls which is expected being I downloaded it for free. If I buy the physical copy however, can  I expect all of the girls to be included since it's basically a paid copy?

And as for the Venus Vacation....if this game requires Steam and being online, have modders thought about what happens whenever they decide to shut down the servers? What happens then? I guess that wouldn't really affect the console version Scarlet right? Is there an active mod scene for that version as well?

Sorry if I'm asking 21 questions but I've only been here a week and still a newb to all of this lol.

Yeah the Switch-version is a single player game with minigames and the Steam-version is a online gacha game with management aspects. :D

The paid Switch version has all girls unlocked. There are probably outfits sold as DLCs (idk).

I doubt they will shut down the servers from DOAXVV in the near future. They adding content every week or so and making a lot of money with there gachas. The Switch-Version is a single player game so it doesn't depend on servers.

I'm not familiar with the modding scene of the Switch version. But I guess it's quite small because you have to hack your Switch to access the game files.

I majorly play the Steam-Version and played the free Switch-Version only some times. So my input to this version is limited :)

I haven't played the other DAO games but I wouldn't put my hopes up for the lore of these games :D . The games consist mainly of fan service.

Ok so I spent the past week playing both Venus Vacation and the Scarlet demo on the Switch. Scarlet was fun enough for me to go ahead and buy the full version this past Friday. It's a really simple and chill game. I had to check out what the Xbox version was like using CXBX and I was surprised to see how X3 is basically the same as the original just with better graphics. Talk about remaining faithful.

When I first booted up Venus Vacation I was very skeptical. I never played a gatcha game and only ever heard negative stories about them. Granted, these stories always come from people who are against gambling. I'm a gambler myself, not an addict in the least bit but I enjoy going  to the casino as much as the arcade as i see it all as "gaming" What's the difference  between taking a spare $100 and going to the arcade or the casino, except in one scenario I can actually win money back?

But back to the topic, after playing for a few days I quickly started to get hooked to this game! It's just really chill and something I can play while smoking a blunt and having a drink while watching the girls play  in beautiful nude 4k graphics lol. This is honestly adult gaming at its best for me as I'm not one that plays hentai games because they're rarely ever real games but this is great! Thanks for putting up with my initial ignorance on the matter. To think  I only found this forum and game from just google searching Senran Kagura destructible costumes for DOA5LR lol I'm happy that I did.
