Makumba666 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Hi all, I have maybe a rather strange idea: suppose one creates a board game based on oblivion, it's locations, characters etc. Of course I mean rather small and free game. Basically you may consider it a "mod", made as a quite different game. We already have Oblivion (and Skyrim) OK? So cloning their features is waste of time, what if we have absolutely different approach to game mechanic instead? Mechanic like board games have. Suppose we have some board with marked oblivion locations (and other things too) on it; and like in Monopoly, player choses his\her character, runs dice et voila... problems arouse: should player be able to buy property like in monopoly or should he\she only have some encounters passing by? Should player have at least some basic attributes and should they influence the game play? How exactly? What should be win\lose conditions? etc.ect.etc. The only thing I can imagine at this moment ... it should be a game that resembles Monopoly: player runs dice, moves character and 3d scene loads with some encounters that may be cinematic, mini-game etc. (it may be adult encounters too ). So it is obvious for me, that I need some basic game mechanic - more complex than Monopoly and not too complex to make it fucken D&D. If you've seen a board game, which may serve as a basic idea, or have your own ideas, please share. Thanks in advance.
kingkong Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 i do not see rolling a dice in game is fun but why not anyway there are some mods that add some random encounter based on level on attributs like invisible dice try Emily's mod http://www.loverslab.com/topic/11189-モンスター娘-【チャンピオンの破損】-12-beta/ and make a new travel around oblivion. if you think of a dice appearing each time you walk around for an encounter or while you fight it will be more annoying but it is just my oppinion.
yosecretsquirrel Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Wouldn't that just be D+D with different names?
Makumba666 Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 I've checked tons of board games and it seems making board game is a bad idea. At last, until I will have an idea sow to put everything in it - social interactions between players, mini games, map exploration etc. I've already started another hobbyist project - an adult game using Last Remnant's models.
