DMCDante Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 It's been ages I tried to play skyrim and I remember magic being very very underwhelming, so I am wondering can you recommend some balancing mods? Like stronger or cheaper spells, maybe make enchanting buff spell damage or something like it buffs melee/bow damage.

zxcvb999 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 And i recommend Requiem, also not just for balance but as general game overhaul, for bigger challenge. As for magic i would suggest Apocalypse spell pack or Midas magic. However those are only spellpacks, not complete magic overhauls. Requiem tends to be too hard for some people, so its more like for hardcore gamers. If you like vanilla experience though, try Locational Damage and Duel - Combat Realism. Locational Damage is great in theory, but script heavy and laggy in practise - but if u dont plan to overload game with mods it might just suit your needs too. Requiem tries to be realistic - ranged combat is preffered at the beginnig as it is much stronger than in vanilla - giant can be taken down with just a few well placed shots. Also u could probably benefit from mod called Crossbows Revamped - it distributes crossbows to common people and bandits, making it very popular on most battlefields, without nerfing its stats. All of the above should switch game balance in favor of ranged combat / magic. EDIT: Requiem also makes it possible to learn spells without buying spellbooks, just basing on perks and personal experience. Spellbooks are only an option.
caicai999 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Whatever you do, do not get any enchant destruction damage mods... broke the game for me T.T 800+dmg from plasma ball(midas magic)
Guest SemiPr0 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Balanced Magic on the Nexus is pretty good...it doesn't overpower magic or make major changes to the base spells themselves, it simply changes how the damage scaling works with perk investment, basically giving a better growth curve on perk investment in the magic trees. Granted I don't mage it up often but I do a lot of spellswording (using BM+Duel Wield Blocking) so I rarely max out Destruction to the master spell levels, so I can't speak for the entire balance curve of Balanced Magic, but it does seem to make magic far more effective not just for the player, but magic casting NPC's also become more dangerous and not simply sword fodder any more because of it. Combine that with something like Deadly Combat....and on Master difficulty Skyrim kind of becomes a Dark Souls like experience, where one mistake can pretty much cost you everything.
