Oblivion official updates and DLC

Hey all,

First of all I apologize if I created this thread in the wrong section. If so let me know and I'll try to move it.

Basically what I'm looking/asking for is a place where I can download any required DLC and updates that I would need before I can start working on some Lovers Mods.

I was on this forum quite awhile ago with a pirate version of Oblivion that ended up giving me too many problems so I gave up. A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon a PC Fallout 3/Oblivion bundle in futureshop so I decided to grab it. Well using a pirated version in the past caused a bunch of problems installing the legit one (karma is a b*tch), but I finally got it up and running. But I quickly realized that it doesn't have any of the DLC or updates.

Reading up on the requirements for many mods made me cry because I need all the DLC and updates. I did a couple of quick google searches and read an article stating that it's no longer possible to buy a complete physically copy of Oblivion (with all DLC) and that you have to get it on steam. I REFUSE TO USE STEAM.

So is there anywhere I can download the DLC? Or did I buy the game for nothing?

Well the only DLC which you can get for a physical copy for is Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles, but they are expensive. However you won't be able to the rest of the DLC on disk.

If you want it all the only place I know is Steam. You can't get them for free as that would be piracy again.

Why don't you want to use Steam?

Well I usually try to avoid the whole steam discussion because I find people rarely agree with me and it just leads to a long argument... but bottom line is a just don't believe in paying for a service that may or may not cease to exist. A hard or digital copy that I have stored lasts forever. That's what I want to buy. Not a promise of service.

Regardless, thanks for the info. I'll see if I can figure out a solution myself.

As far as I am aware other than Steam the only other digital download source for Oblivion's GOTY version is Gamestop: http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/oblivion-goty/91831#media

The GOTY version includes both the shivering isles and knights of the nine DLC.  These two are the main ones most mods use.  Shivering is by far the main one in use and KOTN gets used occasionally.

The Deluxe version contains all DLC made.  I don't know of a digital download source other than steam for it.  To be honest, the other DLC is of limited value.  Mehrunes Razor is probably the best of the lot and the horse armor is the worst (being just a crappy horse armor option).  Very few mods use the the other DLC.

You can still purchase Disc of the Game or some of the major DLC via Amazon (new or used):

KOTN: http://www.amazon.com/The-Elder-Scrolls-IV-Knights-Pc/dp/B002XXY78S/ref=pd_sim_vg_2

GOTY version: http://www.amazon.com/The-Elder-Scrolls-IV-Oblivion-Pc/dp/B005EZ5GQO/ref=pd_sim_vg_6

Shivering Isles: http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-IV-Shivering-Isles-Pc/dp/B000NGRIDI/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1367436730&sr=1-2&keywords=oblivion+shivering+isles

Gamestop Disc verions:

Deluxe: http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/oblivion-goty-deluxe/91742

GOTY: http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/oblivion-goty/91831#media

You "might" find a disc version at some brick and mortar stores if you are lucky:  Walmart, Best Buy and such.

Cheers,

Greg

Considering more and more companies are using Steam it isn't going to go under.

Steam has already said if they go under all games well be updated to remove the Steam DRM.
