Zaselim Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 hello everyone, I edited some meshes in 3ds max and some curve like shapes have edges, how can make those curve shape smoother... Like in this pic the butt curve is not smooth, it has some edges.. I use the smooth tool with 2 option checked, is there a way to make the curve in pure shape without moving the mesh one by one. I'll be really grateful for help, Thanks...
Cyndi Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I'm guessing you are working on the slider for your custom body? There are a few other modifiers for smoothing that I know of, but all of them are kinda dangerous to use on a body to begin with, and would absolutely destroy a weight slider. I'm certainly no authority on 3ds to be sure, but I would say your best bet is to work vertex by vertex and move them one at time. Even soft select is likely to leave divets at the stage you are at now I would think. And I know moving one thing at a time is what you want to avoid, but "(clever quote goes here)" and stuff.
canderes Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 You could relax the butt part of the mesh slightly and it would probably even it out fairly well, but you would have to put an edit poly modifier on top of your edit mesh. Select the area you want to soften in the edit poly modifier and use the relax function. After you smooth it out right click on the edit poly modifier and do collapse to. It should preserve the mesh and you can export. Just don't change the number of vertices and everything should be fine. You could look at the graphite modeling tools right above the viewport and you might find something there, but I would recommend doing relax only before trying anything else. I've done this lots of times, but you should always save a copy of your model before you replace it.
Zaselim Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 Thanks, i will check it and yes i always work on the extra copy not the original file..
