Slavetats and Apropos 2 - Texture flickering issue

Recommended Posts

As the GIF will show, after Sexlab interactions or after waiting it seems Slave Tats and Apropos is updating.

While doing so I get this annoying texture bug that seems pretty random.

I tried disabling Apropos 2's textures, and while it helps I get the same issue around the tattoos that Slave Tats applies.

I tried to lower the number of overlays in Racemenus skee64.ini but that didn't help either.

I also tried different plugins for exporting .dds textures in Photoshop, and running them through Cathedral Assets Optimizer.

Has anyone experienced this before, or know what the issue could be?

I get this occasionally too, but I use this instead of the magic effect by SexLab -

It doesn't fix the issue, I can't tell if its a magic effect or slave tats or the combination that causes it.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I can at least let you know you aren't alone!

Hunh. At first I thought it was skyrims old shadows bug but you can quite clearly see the seam on the wrist which says to me its an overlay and not shadows or a magic effect.

Have you guys checked your papyrus logs? Slavetats (LE at least) does a lot of logging. Any mods i have that apply overlays should also be logging changes. You might also try to capture it with showracemenu. Timing will be tricky though and im Not sure if script processing is halted during race menu. Or try increasing the number of available slots.

Dont think I've ever seen it in my game.

Tried several things to try and come up with a solution, but still don't know why this happens.

But I did find a solution!

Since I am playing on a laptop with an GTX 1060 card I didn't use an ENB because of the performance hit, but when I tried adding the newest binaries and stock settings of ENB the issue just vanished in-game, no more flashing/flickering!

Still don't know why, could be the vanilla lightning engine and overlays.

Are you actually using the ENB graphics modifications or just the fixes without the graphics changes? I use the enb binaries for the fixes, etc, not an actual enb. I know many people can't play without those sweet sunsets and bloomy lights, but my game looks good enough for me with Rustic Weathers, and high res texture mods. I found the impact on performance with a full on enb was more than it was worth, I use a RTX2070.  Anything less than 60fps is bleh imo, but screen archers can deal with 18fps so they can post images all over showing how great it looks, I doubt they can actually play and have fun. To each their own though!

I don't see this effect often, and I'm guessing there is just a lot of slavetats stuff going on when it does (Barefoot Realism, Cum Effects etc.), plus the magic effect of Dirt and Blood going on and off when I cast a spell. I've got more slots than slavetats can use, I put any racemenu overlays above slot 12.

Update on this, I'm seeing this anytime Apropos2 is updating, and it seems only then. Using something that decreases wear & tear causes it to happen.

Slavetats seems a little sluggish on SSE. I don't know the technical details on why mods that apply racemenu overlays directly seem to do it almost instantly, and Apropos seems to hand it off to Slavetats which needs a few seconds to do the work.

Did you ever find a fix?

Like Whacked said, slavetats is kinda sluggish on SSE.

But if I remember correctly, the actual flickering bug from the Gif I posted stopped when I installed an ENB, didn't even have to get a preset, just the .dll's from ENB.

No idea as to why and how, just kinda fixed itself :/

I see the same flickering when changing SlaveTats overlays, all overlays show opaque for a few frames before becoming properly transparent. I assume what's going on in the gif is some mod is constantly updating its overlays. If that's the case then there probably is no fix, at least without changing the SlaveTats code.
