Ark of Truth Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Does anyone know why for some reason that when I use the Ashen race as a requirement for making a ESP that it is not saved in the masters list? OrientalRace needs: Skyrim.esm Update.esm RaceCompatibility.esm Dawnguard.esm I load the OrientalRace ESP and create a new ESP using it as a requirement but when I save, close the CK and load it again it only lists the following as masters. OrientalRace.esp is not even listed. Skyrim.esm Update.esm RaceCompatibility.esm Dawnguard.esm It's not saving regardless if it is a ESM or ESP used as a requirement. I'm sure I'm doing it right.

Make a copy of the Race.esp on your desktop. Then change the extension from .esp in your Data folder to .esm. You'll get a message about possible issues, but you can ignore it. Then load the required Masters into the CK along with the new Race.esm selected as the active file...... let the CK fully load everything, and then save and exit. Voila! The Race.esp copy is to save in the event you need to change something later, but the race will still work normally under the new ESM without any ill effects on existing saves. edit: Note: the new ESM can be used to create new characters and followers normally, but can no longer be set as the active file in the CK because the CK cannot edit Master files. Enjoy! Trykz
Ark of Truth Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Nope didn't work. Still didn't save a master file. It's really beginning to annoy me. There is no maximum amount of ESMs you can have as masters is there? This is what I did: Copied the OrientalRace.esp to desktop Renamed the copy to OrientalRace.esm Placed the OrientalRace.esm into the data folder. Open the Creation Kit Loaded the following ESMs: Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm and RaceCompatibility.esm and OrientalRace.esm. Created a new actor called aaaTemp Saved the plugin as TEMP.esp Closed the Creation Kit. Opened the Creation Kit again. Went to load TEMP.esp Temp.esp only has Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm and RaceCompatibility.esm as masters. I have no idea what is going on. I verified the cache and all that did was replaced the SkyrimEditor.ini with the vanilla one which doesn't allow multiple esm loads until you go back in a change it. Ever since the 1.9 update this game has been buggy as hell.

But you could try this: Move your Skyrim\Data folder temporarily (to avoid the potential deletion issue when re installing the CK). Remove the CK via Steam, then re-install it. Might resolve the issue. Trykz
Ark of Truth Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 All tried that. Hell even tried reinstalling Skyrim, that didn't work either.
Vioxsis Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 To make a esp to a esm you should use wrye bash (right click 'esmify self')
Ark of Truth Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 OK I'll try that. EDIT: That didn't do a damn thing. Clicked it and nothing happened. No new ESM created, nothing.
Vioxsis Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 It doesn't change the extension from esp to esm it changes a bit in the file so that it is recognized as a esm.
Ark of Truth Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 Still didn't work. EDIT: It seems to be something to do with OrientalRace (Ashen mod itself) I managed to create one using Sexis as the other esm instead but it still won't work for the Ashen race. Anyone able to test this out for me? To make sure it's just not me
Ark of Truth Posted April 13, 2013 Author Posted April 13, 2013 OK it seems like I have to use bash and 'esmify self' on the ESP I want to use and then use 'Copy to ESM', that seems to work. Why can't it be like Oblivion and allow you to use ESP or ESM. Please for the love of God someone create a Creation Kit Extender like Oblivion has. Thanks guys.
