Windows 10 + USB Thumb Drive = "USB Device Not Recognized"

I have this new thumb drive. I deleted the partition on it and created a new one via Windows disk management. Whenever I try to copy files to it this error pops up, and keeps popping up repeatedly until I remove the goddamn thing, making it a little difficult to even troubleshoot the problem. I can copy small files to it, but larger file operations inevitably cause the error again. Sometimes just plugging it in causes the error. I'm at my wits end and I'm tired of fucking with Windows' bullshit. Anyone here know what could be causing this? The only thing I've really tried besides re-creating the partition is opening device manager and uninstalling the "external USB drive" driver.

Have you updated windows lately?  If not, try doing that.  Windows auto updated a couple of things without my permission, which then broke pretty much most of my usb functionality.  I manually forced the rest of the updates to happen and boom, all the normal functions of usb were back working.  Worth a try.

When it does break it bothers you for weeks until you've finally had enough. Turns out it was the USB port. I used a different one and it works fine. Well now I'm all up to date and the flash drive is working. ?
