FelixArden Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 I got as far as getting Horny creatures of Skyrim Special Edition 1.2 with SexLab Aroused Creatures SE to work to some extent; creatures that looked male initiated mating with my male player character, which is what I wanted. However, shortly after that, I got into a situation where creatures never initiated anymore, and I noticed that according to the SexLab Animation Settings menu, every creature was female. I don't know if the one or two mods I added after that did it, or if it was a setting I changed, so I tried fiddling with some settings, then disabling and reenabling a few combinations of mods, but couldn't find way to reverse it. Then I uninstalled Skyrim and Vortex, tried to remove all files related to them from my machine, redownloaded and reinstalled Skyrim, and began redownloading fresh copies of the mods and reinstalling them one by one. I just got to the point of reinstalling the minimal infrastructure for getting SexLab back. When I go to Riverwood and select Stump as the SexLab target, it still says he's female. Using the sexchange console command on him doesn't help. However, if I select a male human as the target, SexLab does say that they are male, and if I use sexchange on them, it then identifies them as female. I'm not sure what else to try. It's possible that SexLab always listed all creatures as female and I just didn't notice before I started having problems. Is this expected? If not, how should I troubleshoot?
Gukahn Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Strange.I think Vanilla Skyrim makes most Animals male so it should be a Setting Problem. But if you had set anything up and it worked. Also what might be more important then the Gender showing in Sexlabframe is the Gender on Creature Framework. As far as i remember (i don't really bother with it anymore since it works for me without issue and i only did it with my Horse) i was only able to change the Sex in that MCM once i started using it. The Creature Frame has also a setting where you can setup that male is the default Sex for them, did you tried that?

Once I started having problems I also unchecked a box called something like "Use SexLab Gender" in one of the higher-level mods, but it didn't cause the creatures to start initiating again. For what it's worth, I had "Allow M/M" set, and also had it set so only male creatures would engage my character. The console said engagements with creatures were failing due to, I believe, a m/m check. I then changed my settings to allow both genders of creature to engage, and then the console said engagements were failing due to no vaginal animations found in the animation cache (which is true; there wouldn't have been any). Right now, I have SexLab on all default settings except with my character set to gay, if that means anything. Should I reinstall everything to double check these things? I fully expect that the problem will still be there because I haven't identified anything to do differently, but maybe there is more debug information I could provide.

I would wait with reinstalling until you get more helpful replys. Its a pain in the ass and more so if it doesn't get you what you want again sorry for not being able to help
FelixArden Posted January 27, 2021 Author Posted January 27, 2021 I don't suppose there is a way to generate a log of what all the things that manipulate a creature's gender when the creature is initialized are? Come to think of it, it would be helpful to have a way to check the gender of a creature according to the game, rather than according to SexLab, but I'm not seeing a command for it. Edit: this conjectures that in vanilla Skyrim, creatures don't have a gender value. I guess that would mean the gender SexLab reports for creatures is something it added to them. Perhaps someone who works on SexLab mods can confirm whether that's true.
FelixArden Posted January 28, 2021 Author Posted January 28, 2021 Things seem to be working again. SexLab still says every creature is female, but it isn't preventing encounters from happening. Maybe it was an improperly registered animations problem or something before, and the gender thing was unrelated. I think I'll not install the patch that was supposed to enable creature-on-creature encounters that was the last thing I added before, just in case.
