Wut1969 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 As of the last couple of days I get a CTD the moment I try to save, quicksave or autosave. I thought I got rid of it by returning to an earlier save, but it just started to happen again. Obviously it is quite hard to progress with this feature. I found that in my saves folder, there are 2 temporary files after the CTD; one quicksave.ess.tmp and a hdtPhysicsExtention quicksave.ess Removing them doesn't help. Has anyone had this behavior before and figured out how to fix it?

Ya this is an old bug If you have a death alternative mod like Defeat, DA, or anything really shut it off first because you are going to need to vanilla die to fix this. once that is off open the command console and type player.kill hit enter and close the console you should die, and it will reload your last save (vanilla death) You should now be able to save normally.
Wut1969 Posted December 23, 2020 Author Posted December 23, 2020 Thank you, that worked like a charm. ? I had found the player.kill suggestion somewhere else, but they didn't mention mods like Defeat.
Wut1969 Posted December 23, 2020 Author Posted December 23, 2020 Hmm, so I have to do this every time I start playing? That's a bit masochistic to start with a 'Ah, just commit suidide and have some fun'. ?

You should not have to continue doing it every time. but if the thing causing it is persistent the problem will manifest itself continually. You could try doing a clean re-install of Defeat to see if that corrects the re-occurrence issue.

Yes, that worked! Thank you very much. You're really a very friendly woodelf (Too bad Skyrim is for the Nords ?)
